Congrats to all the other new mums and labour vibes to those after them! Jjst managed to read back over the last few days. Marta - hugs honey, is your bf counsellor from the hospital or NCT? My area apparently has a great NCT helper but you might be in a different area. Remember too that you need your 'happy hormones' flowing for your milk to flow so try express while cuddling her or (perhaps) if you can hear her crying if oh is changing her?

As for me, will get round to the full birth story, I promise. It's true though that you forget the details, although I think my poor husband remembers everything!!

Baby is great - generally quite content and sleeps a lot. although we're starting to think he's being sedated by my milk (I'm on painkillers due to the tear I had) so I'm going to cut down on those and see if he is more active. Yesterday he kept falling asleep while feeding and nothing could wake him, but he's now had three proper feeds in the night. TMI alert: you hear the words 'third degree tear' and freak out a bit about your first bowel movement but it really isn't anything to worry about!

We are going to try venture out the house today for the first time to register him and take him to see my colleagues - we'll see how that goes, i've not yet tried to feed discreetly and we will try carry him in a sling.

One thing for you other ladies to watch out for is your back post birth. I didn't realise (always had a strong back) but since your abs aren't back to normal yet and all your ligaments and things are still loose it's very easy to strain your back - in my case feeding as you're holding a (9lbs in my case) baby for quite a while, nevermind picking up/holding/changing (baby hates being changed so I find myself leaning over the changing table to try comfort him but it's really uncomfy!). I got a bf pillow while pregnant but didn't use it the first few days, but it's really a godsend if feeding in bed, and the nursing chair is great for feeding during the day. I really should have started off using them.

I second what Savage said above, it's really important to make sure you have loads of cushions/pillows for support while feeding, and make sure you're in a good position before you latch on, as you could then be stuck for 20-30 mins and it's a pain to take baby off and relatch just because you need to adjust a pillow. Makes Ellie very grumpy!

Hope everyone's getting on ok, still lurking but it's hard to keep up on my phone and I never have a free hand for the laptop! Can't believe it's been over 3 weeks already, feel like it's only a few days, but also a whole lifetime since she arrived! Labour vibes for those that want them, waiting to hear news from Rups and Bamama ;)

Moog! *glomp* can't believe how fast it's gone either. Miss having you around :(

I've always got plenty of cushions around. OH likes them lol...might have to fight him for them come feeding time.

Rups and I are still hanging on. Seem to be in the same boat. Babies are too confy to move out and no real pains to get them going >< a miracle did happen though... Rups actually said she's ready!!!

Big hugs Bamama! These naughty babies do like to keep their mummies waiting, very pesky of them. Maybe they're waiting to be born on Boxing Day like me ;) it's not too bad as a birthday once you get used to it, at least I never have to work :p

    hello all. how are you?

bit quiet on here? def miss you guys savage, moog and many more (still groggy hehe). could not sleep last night. little one was busy and then dh was snoring/breathing heavy and i wanted to kill him so had ear plugs on.. then stayed in bed longer. he is working from home today so we are just sat here on our laptops. lol. need to go and dye my hair shortly. as bamama said we are still waiting.. need to get a bit active today without hurting the back as if i do too much the back suffers. will sit on the ball too today and see how it works. :)

one of the women from my nct class who's due date was yest actually is having her labour induced at the mo as she didnt feel bubs moving and she got worried so she let us know she got admitted yest and she is in early labour so she def will be seeing her little girl soon. bless her as we did predict she would go first purely on the date. me and this other girl are still waiting..

left the tens machine hire a bit late so as usual am going to look online to see what i can get from the nct website..

i know bamama, must have made you guys fall of your chairs/sofas when i said i am ready now.. need to be comfy in bed and stuff again.. get too uncomfy.:( come on little one get ready and out!! thought something may have started yest as was having periody cramps.. dont know if they are indicative of contractions?

  • Just poking my head in here, labour vibes coming from me andOscar if needed!

Marta - don't worry too much about your supply, the more you try to feed/pump the better it will get. Lots of skin to skin cuddles will help too!

Savage - we're going to register Oscar today too if he stops feeding for more then ten minutes haha. I've expressed quite a bit for emergencies but I'd prefer to keep him on the boob for as long as possible.

Rups - stomach cramps were certainly a sign on my labour, if they start getting unbearable, don't ignore them like I did, even if you're not having typical contractions. Otherwise you might actually end upgiving birth in a taxi haha. Also I really like the name Asher as suggested above, it's very cool.

Currently me and Ozzybob are having a battle of wills regarding feeding. He's definitely got a preference for Lucy Lefty rather than Robbie Righty which means I'm having to express from my right occasionally. He's a fussy !!!!!!! He's asleep all day and up all night, plus he's a sleepy baby so I have to wake him for feeds and even during feeds. Exhausted isn't the word!!
Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)

    Back from the midwife!

She put me down as 3-4ths and I'm measuring 38cm which is lower than usual... but then I'm a week earlier going as the way the stupid dates worked out.

Everyone is pitying me as my belly now looks like it has completely run out of room!

She took my bloods as requested by the doc in the other hospital. She told me they are happy for me to have the baby in the local hospital if my levels stay above 9... and she reckons it won't drop under that so should all be good! Recommended I have the jab to get the placenta out so I'll bleed less. I was in two minds whether to have it or not... wanted it to be as natural as possible. But if it's jab or bleed and get transfered 30/40 min away, I'll take the jab :)

Asked about "availability" around Christmas and she said they weren't expecting a mad rush but Christmas evening into Boxing Day is usually busier. Women crossing their legs or putting the pains down to over eating/heartburn etc.

I'm with you on the periody pains Rups. Think they are mostly because baby's head is low and if it's wriggling then it's bound to cause cramps. Oh and the backache!

If there's no action by Thursday (day after Boxing Day) then I'm going in for a sweep. The girls in work with my mother (she works in the hospital if noone knew...) have decided it's going to come on the weekend.

Rather enjoying being this close to my date as the look on peoples faces when they ask "So when are you due?" and you say "tomorrow" is absolutely priceless! Be even more fun tomorrow... and past XD

MissKeith you sound like you are doing well :) good that little Oscar is enjoying the boob, isn't it a little insulting when he falls asleep midway though? Or maybe that's just extra appreciation ^^
