I don't know why people do that... I can get just as much in my bog-standard coat, which I just drape over my arm and carry onto the plane which has the added bonus of not making your stand out like a sore thumb!
Then when I'm on the plane, everything comes out of the pockets (I get enough in there to pretty much completely fill a bag!) and I walk off the plane on the other side carrying two bags and wearing no excess clothes etc. A few cabin crew do give me second looks while I'm walking off the plane - but there is nothing they can do by that point. (Oh, and the time when I was in an emergency exit row where you aren't allowed any loose items during take-off, so a cabin crew took my jacket to stow away and dropped it on the passenger next to me, as they weren't expecting a rain coat to weigh 10kg so it just slipped out of their hand!).0 -
I can't wait for the MSE thread "how to make the clothes you are wearing last a week's Med holiday" :beer:0

I can see why this has happened, we are in a ridiculous situation where with the curent price structures everyone is taking max allowed size bags onto the plane as hand luggage and they all don't fit. It is now at the point where on three flights with easyjet they have been forcing people to check bags in (no fee) and as long as the pricing stay like this the silliness will continue. Aircraft will soon need to be designed with less hold room and more overhead luggage room.
As far as advertising goes airlines should be forced to advertise prices for a standard set of 'options' much like advertised mpg on cars is standardised (though not as well as it should be).
I can't wait until supermarkets go this route. You want to shop in person and not online? Extra charge. You want a trolley not a basket? extra charge. You don't want the self service checkout with 'unexpected item in bagging area' every other item? Extra charge. You want to park you car? Extra charge. Then they take a leaf out of wizz air's book and make the baskets smaller with charges for the standard sized one.0 -

I remember boarding a domestic flight within the Soviet Union in the 1980s where everyone carried all their baggage (including hold baggage) on to the plane via the hold and then walked upstairs to the cabin.0 -
I think easyJet will do a charge for their busiest large hand luggage flights.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

How they can call themselves budget airlines  when you have to pay for every single thing!!!
This is getting crazy and if they continue like this people will choose different ways to travel. I really hope all this so called budget airlines would go bankrupt!!!
I used to fly with Wizzair a lot but stopped about 4 years ago as they prices are getting higher every year!! Plus getting the same ideas as Ryanair where you have to pay for everything!!
Whats the point when you get nice cheap flight and end up with paying double the money by the time you finish booking your flight o the web!!! I HAVE JUST ONE WORD - RIDICULOUS!!!! :eek:0 -

If you want to take it to extremes, how about restricting the carriage of hand luggage to adults only? I have been on a number of flights where children are trailing their 'cute' luggage behind them, with the adults lifting it into the overhead lockers. I'm not against kids taking responsibility for their bits and pieces, but do they really need to have a hard case suitcase?
Perhaps they should start charging by total weight - passenger plus their luggage!0
