Well I reckon I am going to give up. My article has come back for the 4th time saying that:-

I went through my article phrase by phrase and pasted each into Google. Each resulted in "0 results found" with the exception of one which was a totally generic phrase about the location of a branch (6 words). I reworded it and re-submitted. I really thought I'd cracked it this time because on each of the previous occasions, my article came back quickly. This one took a bit longer.

I am defeated by this one.

Incidentally, I see that quite a few of the same client's jobs have reappeared on the Assignments list. I wonder if others are having the same problems?

What a horrible start and end to my experience with Textbroker :-(

That is really, really strange. I was about to suggest copying bits into Google to see if other matches popped up but you already tried it. I've had revision requests in the past and each time Textbroker has flagged up the offending sentence so I knew what to change. I have no idea what went wrong in your case :/

    Hi Natu!

I am completely new to this so if Textbroker flag up the offending text, I have missed it.

    How do they do this?

My last submission hasn't come back so far so it isn't currently there for me to look at.

Incidentally, I had a look at some of the same client's jobs which were relisted this afternoon and the text which was described as being specific to the job I did is exactly the same in several of the other jobs.

I wonder if this is what the problem has been? If the client is putting up a dozen assignments with the identical "specific" requirements, authors are bound to pick up on key phrases.

I'd really appreciate if someone could tell me how to recognise offending text though.

This is odd. It's only happened to me once, and I think that was the first article I ever wrote, but I was specifically told which sentence to change.

The only thing you can do is to contact TB and ask for clarification.

Whenever it's happened to me, TB has not only specified the phrase, but also the external source URL ....

As others have said, TB usually tell you the sentence to change when you get the revision request back. Has the client requested an entire sentence as the keyword requirements? Maybe your right if the author has requested that in several other articles...

Bad timing being the weekend and all. I'm guessing your time frame to revise the article will expire before Monday? It is strange for TB not to tell you exactly what is wrong with the article...

From what we've both said, we both did articles for the same client, and mine went through fine. I think that what you've picked up on as 'specific' requirements were more like FAQ there to assist with the article, rather than copied directly, IYSWIM? Was it the question and answer bit? Maybe that's what it picked up on.

Of course, it could be that the client did want that included word for word, and mine will get rejected by the client! :rotfl:

Could I ask which plagiarism checker you are using please? Or links to a couple that people recommend? I've got revisions to do on a 3500 word rewrite of some terms and conditions the client supplied. I worked from the text given but to change the legal speak of terms and conditions so they still make sense when the client clearly took the whole text from someone else's website is nearly impossible
, before I did the whole 3500 words I did a 800 word sample and sent it to the client checking it was rewritten enough, he replied saying perfect. Clearly textbrojers plagiarism checker doesn't think so!
So frustrating and this is worth 45 euros so if it gets rejected after the hours it has taken me I will be pretty cross!

    Any tips gratefully received!

I thought it was the best because it breaks your text down into chunks with either a tick or a cross.

I got an email from support at Textbroker telling me that my article had finally passed their plagiarism software and asking me to forward the emails I'd received because apparently they should tell me what the offending text was (they didn't).

It has certainly been a baptism of fire :-) Thanks to all who were online and offered suggestions whilst I was having my nervous breakdown!

Yesterday was a bit of a crazy day and I apologise for joining MSE and leaping straight in with deranged cries of "HELP!" without any form of introduction.

I've been a lurker on the thread for a while and decided to try my hand at Textbroker about a month ago. I took all the advice on board and really took my time over my sample. I am therefore pretty mortified to be rated 3* but I suspect is is because of hyphens (or lack of them). I'd done some research on Textbroker before writing my sample and read one post which said that TB doesn't like hyphenation of words. I had three hyphens in my sample and I subsequently removed these before submission. Later, I came across a TB tutorial on improving your rating and one of the suggestions was to make sure that you DID hyphenate words (we live and learn).

My first thought was "stuff it", especially with the dearth of 3 star opportunities. But then I considered it a challenge to plod on and try and improve my rating.

My primary reason for joining Textbroker isn't monetary but as a means of improving my punctuation and grammar. I enjoy writing and have been procrastinating over self-publishing some of my work to Kindle because I worry that my grammar isn't up to scratch.

I therefore see Textbroker as a bit of a training ground for my creative writing hobby.

Hi all, looking for some info re direct orders please? :D

I've just received a client review for an article that was 'excellent' across the board, and they also left feedback saying 'Awesome article, thanks!'. I've sent a quick message mentioning I'm available for direct orders, whether I'm taken up on it - who knows? - but I'm not sure how you receive them. I know they'll be under Direct Orders in the assignment part of the site, but do you also get an email? I don't want to keep checking the site for them if you're made aware another way.
