Just to add my two cents, I did over a hundred articles for TB on a client order and despite never having anything rejected, they removed me from the team and said that they 'wanted to keep the voice fresh'.

I was one of the most active members of the team judging from the activity and speed at which order were going.

I can understand that - and at least they had the courtesy to tell you why. I don't think 5 articles out of 330 can be the same reason though - in fact they blacklisted me after 4, while i was still writing number 5.
Joined a lot of other teams yesterday - but who knows if they are even active or not - no articles there at the moment!

I had something similar happen back in March - was part of a different team and after having done about 30 articles with no problem over a few months, TB didn't like one of the ones I'd done and kept sending it back with no real feedback on what I was doing wrong. They kept telling me parts of it were irrelevant when they weren't. :( I kept asking for clarification on what exactly they wanted changed but was only threatened with article rejection by some guy called Malcolm (who had taken over the admin duties from Vikki). Then they banned me from that team.

I asked for a response from TB several times and complained about this Malcolm guy (who was less than polite) but they never responded. Was so cheesed off I havn't used TB since.

Not quite the same as yours but don't think there's anything you can do. Sorry. :(

Maybe this is a bit conspiracy theory, but personally I think the TB staff are requesting revisions, not the clients. This is my story.

I'm a 3* star, happy to write the numerous SEO articles but also keen to join teams. I was accepted to a team we'll call Happy Families and wrote several articles in quick succession over a weekend on a variety of subjects. On the Monday, I received revision requests on every article, often over what I felt were minor points that were largely due to omissions from the original requests. I duly revised - only to then receive more revision requests for each article in the afternoon. I duly obliged and resubmitted them all the same day.

Just over a week later they were all accepted by the client. Yet when I now see articles available for the same team, I'm blacklisted.

They don't like my style? Fair enough. However I suspect the blacklisting has more to do with TB than the client. If all my articles were read and revisions requested within 24hrs of submission, why does it then take 10 days to accept the article? If the client is reading them within 24hrs of them being written, why not accept them once they're happy? Does a client really give someone the authority to request articles (ie spend money) and demand revisions - but not the power to accept them? I think not.

If I'm not up to the job, I can cope with that - and I'm happy to admit it could just be sour grapes that I think the original requests were poor. But at least have the balls TB to admit you are vetting the articles on behalf of clients, rather than hiding behind their cloak of anonymity.
  • Hundreds of articles are currently available in the open order pool - it looks like it could be a productive week!

I know what you mean about strange acceptance times, but I would be very surprised if TB were that on the ball when reading and asking for revisions for your articles. I can't imagine why the client would be so lax in eventually accepting, but TB are never that quick usually. As mentioned above, I think some clients either want 'fresh voices' for their articles - hence the blacklisting even when they were originally happy accepting.

I was wondering if TB have many jobs other than articles? Personally I much prefer writing blog posts and product descriptions. Do they have this kind of work on a regular basis?

    Thanks in advance :j
  • I just logged on for the first time in about 5 months, prompted by a load of old articles being marked.

Anyway, I just took the proofreading test and scored 100%. Can I do anything extra now?

Hi - I just wanted to let you all know, it is possible to be 'upgraded'. I was a 3 star originally. I wrote 63 articles and tried to learn from the 'comma use' comments I kept getting from TB ratings, changed my style a little bit - TB don't like sentences beginning with a conjunction even though that rule is a bit old fashioned now as readers of The Times will note, and I proofread everything several times. I have just been marked and been given a 4 star. :) It really has made my week because I just accepted that I'd probably stay a 3-er and that was OK.

Looking at the 4 star assigments, they seem to have a lot more specific requirements than the 3-ers, some of the order descriptions are longer than the article they want written!!

I'm going to avoid picking the 3-ers from now on so there will be one less person nabbing them in the lunch break!

    Well blow me down!!

Just had one of my articles rated 5 stars. :j

Never had that happen before and the daft thing is, I thought this particular article would get a 3, because I know for a fact there is a very silly spelling mistake in it. I realised that as soon as I'd sent it in.

There is hope of progress for all of us then, Textbroker workers!

What are textbroker upto? I have just had a piece rated from February, it was a 2* piece and they have given it a 4* rating. Don't get me wrong, I'm chuffed that they've upgraded me to 4*'s but I know that piece didn't deserve it.
