Our windowsills disappeared about a month ago :rotfl: overflowing is an understatement! The greenhouse didn't get over 4 degrees yesterday daytime but its up to nearly 20 today.

I have been very norty and bought more trees from DTbrowns half price sale I got a patio apricot and another patio nectarine and a lord derby cooking apple as I have one of these already and the apples are huge!

I really need a field you know not a tiny town garden...

Window sills filling fast here too, but some of the hardier stuff is managing in the greenhouse. Mind you we got off much more lightly than many for the snow. Its been bitter cold, but the snow only lay for one day and we have had a fair bit of sun in the days. Been regularly over 60 degrees f in the GH in the day. I normally get my early spuds in around now, but the ground is still too hard-so done some in pots in the GH to make a start.

Loving the sound of those patio trees, where is the offer please?

    keep warm ev1

Ali the half price offer is on at DTBrown seeds and if you order 3 you get a free apple tree as well... I really do need a bigger garden!

I've had lots of fruit from them over the years and have been very pleased with quality and customer service.

I'm currently trying to resist these

Sorry D3, I meant to say I'm already paying for the elect to run the freezer - but a dehydr would be extra on top. It's a big American f/f so has a lot of stuff in it, coolbox wouldn't do. Will get the RV to look into it, it's time he did something useful :)

    Hello M (waues to all)

Um, excuse my nosiness, but what is RV? Real Vicar? Ripe Vine? Ripping Victualler? Right Voice? Rigged Vehicle? Rugged Vet? Or, am I mssing something (well, yes , between the ears, but apart from that...)?

Still restraining OH from spending all we have saved...:) He'd like to spend it on prep stuff or going off grid though.. DDog has had a great long walk, and yes, she is now sleeping it off. Again. I know they are great companions, but, well, only when they are actually awake!

Keep yourselves well and warm all.

Thanks for that, we have 3 fruit trees at the front that were those cheapy Lidl ones and so far they haven't done much fruit wise-but this is about year 4 or so so perhaps they will do better now they are established. Can I ask do you grow all your fruit trees in pots, and how big a pot is needed?

  • Maryb, can I ask which brand pressure canner you chose. Is it the jiggler type, or does it have the pressure guage?

I have a pressure canner too maryb. I also prefer meat in the freezer but do keep some in jars for emergency quick meals and self catering holidays. I like veggie meals from the jars such as veggie pasta sauce , veggie lasagne red sauce with Turkish lentils and also curry. I do a lot of beans too. They save so much time and I buy large quantities of dried beans from Asian supermarkets and Approved foods when they have them so cheap to buy.

Mine is a 23 quart presto with the gauge.

D&DD Im so glad you are back, I have been looking for fruit tree's and they were all so expensive but those you posted about are perfect, and a free one too :j:j:j My newly fenced garden has a big bare space at the back that used to be filled with hedge's and fence and junk so I have gained 5 foot of perfectly empty garden. Im going to get the kids to buy me the tree's for my birthday( in advance :D like they do with me ) Bargain!

Mar thought of a solution to your problem  get a bicycle to act as a genny, sit Rv on it down the end of the garden - 2 problems solved - Peace and power !
