Mind for a while I desperately wanted one Mrs L - but then thought it might turn into one of those gadgets that hangs around the kitchen getting in your way.. and I can't get to SMs for whoopsies, so would need to pay full whack for veg. But going on from that, I think this year like never before we will need to grow our own veg cos this weather isnt going to help prices one bit. So might do for that if the weather lets me grow anything!
It's either a dehydrator or a jenny I think, we def need to get something sorted. f my elect went off here now then god knows when it would go back on, since all the workers are in Arran and Kintyre.
Heavy thinking going on here lol0 -
WCS best wishes for the summer :wave:0

In weather like this, I always spread newspaper near backdoor, as protection against muddy boots and wet dog spray. Had a brainwave here, using excessive packing delivered with pressure relieving cushion for OH - (in a big cardboard box with yards of paper round it for heaven's sake). Now using cardboard cut up for extra door mat, and have paper neatly rolled up to add to newspaper by backdoor. :j
Have a feeling I will need a lot, this weather still freezing and snow flurries. Mr Dog thinks it is beyond a joke, he cant get used to snow up to his oxters.:rotfl:0 -

Reminds me of the joke about the Great Dane and the Chihuahua walking through the snow.
The Great Dane says "My feet are freezing".
The Chihuahua replies "Your FEET are freezing"?0 -
My dog is suffering greatly. She needs just the right 'fragrance' before she can go and the snow is covering it all up. So she's spending a lot of time sniffing round in circles to identify the hallowed spot. Meanwhile Pineapple is stood there freezing and can be heard shouting in an increasingly frustrated tone, 'Have a poo, !!!!!! have a poo!' Which is kinda embarrassing when you realise there are a couple of walkers stood right behind you ... :rotfl:0

MAR we grow (most years) far more than we can use between the two of us so for me the dehydrator is the best way of preserving the crops for later in the winter months. It's the bonus of living down here in the soft south, the safest way to store if you don't grow is most likely the tins and jars you have already decided on. At least they don't need electricity to keep do they? Cheers Lyn xxx.0

POPS the ladies on the Tougher thread are asking after you and your in box is full so they can't get in touch with you, just checking that you are OK? Cheers Lyn xxx.0

I have been done
On the mend now hopefully and no more patches whoop :j
I plan on reading back as I've missed so much news but wanted to nip in and send some moral support for all our snowbound friends,we have been so jammy down here, hardly any and no disruptive sort of stuff its just brassic still.
I am worrying about the garden as its very behind, though surprisingly all the seeds I have sown in the greenhouse are up and doing well..go figure??
I really need the apples and pears to do well this year after the disaster last year..have you seen the price of cooking apples *swoon*
I've managed to keep busy and have been experimenting with the excalibur (not always advisable chopping stuff tho when you can't see..!) and have planted some new fruit in the garden between frozen spells.
Things are getting tough round here lots of neighbours worrying about the benefit changes and cost of food etc.
I even managed to get into a conversation at the dentists about how to grow potatoes lol
Rosie dog currently has stitches as she sliced her leg open on the field,so we have dentist to get my cap fitted later and her last checkup hopefully then I have a whole week off from appointments yay
Hope you all are staying warm and safe,I've never known anything like this weather it's so sad watching the news atm keep your chins up peeps XXXX0 -
I'm wondering if I should move my seed trays - planted 10 days ago - onto indoor window sills from greenhouse, as temp in greenhouse hardly above 10 C during daytime, down to 2 at night. One little shoot came up yesterday, but shrivelled during the night.0

What have you sown SL ?
I have found the peas,br beans, kohl rabi and root stuffs alright in the cold greenhouse and salad mixes are ok if a little slow and the potatoes are chitting well but I have everything covered with a layer of fleece just in case0
