Just a heads up. Some of us are expecting a heavy dump of snow tomorrow. If this is you - it was on the news that it might be enough to bring down power lines.
Yes, heavy dump of snow for some tomorrow and possibly on Saturday night....then torrential rain and storm force winds for most...its going to be one hell of a weekend...... just having a conversation online with weather watchers and storm chasers...fascinating people:D“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. Just a little update, thanks to ev1 who posted about BIL and my thoughts are with any other families going through stuff like this. He is out of surgery and in intensive care so he got over the first hurdle. Sadly most of his pancreas and a large part of his bowel had to be removed so yet more permanent issues he will have to cope with if he gets that far. He will be in a drug induced coma for the next few weeks while they see how things progress. The big risk is multi organ failure or his heart giving out because of the strain on his body, but we can only hope for the best.
Its his birthday soon which will be hard for the inlaws I think. Its funny how we all now seem to notice on TV every time someone on a soap etc seems to turn to drink to sort everything out and how its effect are not really taken seriously by many people.
The specialist said the numbers they get in this sort of condition are rising fast and the average ages are falling. The worst thing he said is getting someone through months of treatment and support only for them to go straight out and back drinking and eventually there is nothing further they can do I just hope BIL can both survive and kick the habit, but we will see.

Hugs, Ali, glad your BIL is over the first hurdle. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.
Just been out to do the final horse check and it's -9 here! Very crunchy, but horses both nice and cosy in plenty of rugs (and well fed). My heart goes out to anyone sleeping rough tonight.
Thanks for the heads up for the storms, wind and rain, 2T - what a lot of weather we're having at the moment. Ah well, it will make Spring feel all the sweeter, I suppose.0 -
Totally agree CAKE whatever we have or currently don't have we are so much luckier than some folks, just hope that everyone whatever their circumstances is safe and able to be warm on such a cold old night as this, take care , Cheers Lyn xxx.0

I am only on for a couple of minutes as I can't risk leaving the computer on, its horrendous here with gale force winds, thunder and torrential rain. There was a tornado yesterday here and in Paxos, the next island down.
Just want to post this update for the Uk and Scotland. There is a good chance of some places getting a very heavy band of snow that will then clear later today, then.........
Rays Weather Page Ireland ____WEEKEND FORECAST, FURTHER OUTLOOK AND WEATHER WARNINGS____
*Flood Warning*
Potential for flooding in some parts tomorrow as heavy rain mixed with milder conditions bring a rapid thaw of any lying snow.
Some risk of further flooding in ...the next week as bands of heavy rain and strong winds cross the Country.
*Wind Warning*
Potential for some strong winds over the weekend but on Monday, depending on the track of a vigorous storm system crossing in from the Atlantic, there is potential for very strong or severe winds with conditions possibly becoming extreme.
Another vigorous storm system, depending on its track, poses similar risks on Tuesday.
Regular updates to come on this
We have just had a warning for thunderstorms with heavy snow. Off to the gym before anything else happens. Stay safe and warm folks, I have my stock of good coffee and chocolate!“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. Baltic up here with horrible winds and it's just starting to snow. They said snow in the afternoon but it must be early. This house is pretty draughty in windy weather and the fire roars up the chimney and boils the water, comes out of the tap in steam. We've got the most beautiful icicles hanging from the rones, 18" long and pretty.
I have munched all my sweeties (again!) so will have to endure withdrawal until the weather gets betterWon't be moving until Mon at least.

Oh MAR you stay safe in what is coming our way, no sweeties?????? Oh deary me, poor you. Do you have any orange squash or that type of stuff? If you get desperate, given that it is so cold outside you could make ice lollies for free and maybe that would hit the spot until you can get to the shops again? Keep warm, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Mardatha could you make your own sweeties?
Icing sugar, peppermint essence and egg white would make peppermint cremes. Rice krispies and a choc mic of cocoa, sugar butter and syrup would give little choc clusters.

Thanks for the weather updates. It is forecast to snow here this afternoon but at the moment there is no sign of it. So glad I stocked up with milk, bread, eggs etc and that there is lots of YS stuff in freezer still.
Keep warm and safe."This site is addictive!"
