Hey GINNY How are you feeling now? I'll bet your bruises are like a Picasso painting, hope you aren't too uncomfortable, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Having just been watching a neighbour slithering around the car park in her 4 wheel drive I've thought better of going out. But I have cleared a space around my car and gritted in the hope of better things tomorrow!
So today I'm going to be a domestic goddess - just defrosting some lamb mince for my first attempt at samosas
Plus the egg pickling of course...
Edit: First sunshine in days and a blue sky! :j. It's so mild I have put out some hand washing to dry.0 -
Hi 2T I was not getting at you as I know you were not driving. It is just that some people say they will have a drink before going out in the cold to warm them first and that is the worst thing they can do. It does warm inside for a few minutes but then their blood vessels dilate and push the warm blood towards the skin where it cools and if they don't get somewhere warm fairly quickly the inside becomes too cool. Normally in cold weather the body will try and protect the organs first but alcohol makes it do the opposite.0

Pineapple,
Isn't it great that we are still adventurous to try something new. Often more difficult to do when alone...then again we only have ourselves to please.
I am buying new things but then it sometimes gives me an idea how to do a HM version."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

You could consider a couple of those handwarmer packs that outdoors shops sell? Compact and light weight but very useful for keeping the extremities warm; stuff one down the side of your boots for a little while and alternate with the mitts. If you put it between your thighs it will boost your whole body temperature IME.
Erm, I'll try anything once, although I do worry a little about what passers-by or other drivers may think!A more conventional one I heard about is keeping the top of your back warm, especially between the shoulder-blades....
Must mention to OH about keeping his extremities warm!

If you're stuck in snow and want to keep the engine running to keep warm, you need to get out and clear the snow away from around the exhaust or you're liable to take a wee nap and never wake up. And as the snow keeps falling you need to keep clearing.
Thanks M
Didn't think about that one....

Alcohol drives the heat from the inner core of your body to the outside so you cool quicker and people have died of the cold.
Just thought I would post this for those interested in drop spindles.
Hello GM247
Thank you, it's ok, I wasn't going to honest!
Just thinking about it being a great idea when I'm home for a drop of the chilled stuff. More inclined towards a hot toddy though at the moment!
