  • I'm as batty as a batty fruitbat from batshire then, does that make me eligible?
    Normal people worry me.
  • Hi HOBSONS, how are your damsons these days, quite recovered I hope, Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • May I be Batty Bunty?

Prepping like a good'un and plan to get people to call me Bunty once we retire to the coast. OH says he will refuse to introduce me as Bunty... but as I make the social connections he'll either have to step up or put up.

Still having the preppers crisis of having crunchy peanut butterin my store cupboard when I only like smooth...

Just had the strangest experience....we were both watching the news on tv when I heard an odd sound outside....like a very heavy truck passing but the noise went on and on. I asked my husband if he could hear it as well and he said yes, what is it?

I went outside and although its night time the sky looks a strange pink colour. The noise continued for minutes without stopping and was like continuous thunder. I have seen no lightning and its only just started raining after a warm dry day. How odd.....

Not much happening here in Greece, the municipality workers are on their 12th day of a sit in at the offices. The judges are also on strike and the pharmacies from Monday onwards. Not sure about anyone else as I haven't had the list of what strikes are on.

The European summit broke up unexpectedly with everyone at loggerheads. There is some kind of tele conference about the bailout on Monday evening but I have a feeling it will be cancelled.

Even more shocking is the fact that I have a job interview on Monday evening! I saw a message on facebook the other day that a real estate agency was looking for people to do marketing and help at their office with contracts. I sent a message and my cv and then noticed that it was dated last month. So I gave up on ever hearing any more about it.

The lady who owns it rang me today when I got home from the gym and wants me to go and see her on Monday! I am shocked that she even rang me as there is very little on offer here at the moment. I think she was impressed by the fact that I knew about Greek real estate law and had experience of internet marketing of properties. Anyway, I will see what she has to say and offer on Monday. At the moment we live on my OH Navy pension and can just about manage to pay everything they throw at us, even though he doesn't get a lot. I feel a bit shell shocked to be honest.

Having an early night tonight as two late nights in a row have done me no good at all. I have got a bit of a sore throat from all the wood smoke in the village as we are all burning olive wood. Must get some throat soothers tomorrow at the shops....meanwhile I intend to have some earl grey tea with honey and lemon. Have a safe, warm weekend folksxxxxxx

Just a thought, but could you bung your crunchy peanut butter in a blender to make it into smooth?

Just popped in to say that my local council are giving away free 20kg bags of gritting salt to those who can grit the front of their street / pavement and their neighbours.
We dont have gritting salt bins in the street but I normally do the pavement in front of the house to help the cars get in and out of the drive anyway and I dont mind throwing it down a few houses each way if I have it for free.
Might be worth checking the local papers to see if your local council have a similar scheme. :)

Snow can really cause TSTHTF here with lots of dog walkers and the elderly so even a little bit could help.

    Flash warning of severe weather

Warning type: Damaging winds and further heavy rain

A further spell of very wet and windy weather is likely across much of the UK during the course of the weekend. With rain falling on to already saturated ground, the risk of further flooding is very high.

Further rainfall amounts of around 25-30mm are expected across Western regions.

Our main concern is the strength of the winds, the latest higher resolution models are suggesting gusts of 90mph across Southern coastal locations Saturday night and in to the early hours of Sunday morning.

The strong winds then extend eastwards, bringing inland gusts of 70mph across the South East, East Anglia and the East Midlands during Sunday.

These wind speeds are not to be taken lightly, damage to property, roofs, and out buildings are a real possibility, we will continue to keep an eye on developments, and will issue an act now weather warning if necessary when the event occurs.

Further to this, the combination of high winds and soft ground leads to an increased risk of trees uprooting.

If you are concerned about your property please visit the Environment Agency website to check the latest flood warnings in your area.
