Could it be anything to do with the release of Abu Hamza?

He has been released this morning, possible the prison was in that area (HMP Long Lartin).

Oops...Abu Qatada. Not the one you mentioned...:o

At the moment the low is off the west coast of Scotland and is still developing. Yes, the forecast is for this weekend coming but it could be out by a day or so. I think the storm might move further south before moving in so I would think the North would get it and maybe the Midlands as well. I am glad it is of help to some of you. I will continue to post updates.
There is a strike over the whole of Europe on 14th November to show solidarity with each other over the austerity cuts that are making people suffer.
Just bought a load of baking things from Lidl that were dirt cheap, decorations for cakes, ground hazelnuts etc. Going to do some baking of gluten free goodies to keep myself cheerful......as I have eaten all my emergency chocolate LOL

Thank you for the weather update's,seeing as I'm in the midland's, will make sure my flask's are all full of hot water so if the 'leccy go's off we can have the essential brain warm up off tea and coffee why is it alway's night time when the power go's off? seeing as the village is all electric, and I'll get the camping stove out as well.

I'v not heared anything about a european wide strike:eek:, how many countrie's are taking part?

Emergency chocolate! For crying out loud, it's essential chocolate, it's the jelly babies for emergencies:)

  • Yep we're getting prepared started stockpiling food, medicines and weapons .......

    NOT lol

Actually we do stock up in the winters just for emergencies like the winter zombie apocalypse (like the one in 2008) and for when the little one is ill and we cant get out to the shops, altho we do have an emergency kit that we take with us on long journeys in the winter, Which consist of a jet boil, water, Blankets, dried food, Chocolate, heat packs, painkillers, change of clothes, shovel, you get the drift, My husband is scottish and we have traveled up in the winter and had to dig ourselves out in the past.

2T are your sources saying anything about what will happen on friday when Greece's next loan payment is due?

TBH I reckon the best solution would be to get the pain over now and let Greece default and drop out of the euro. At least then any taxes etc will be used by the greeks themselves.

BTW saw another report saying about how food prices will be going up. They said dried pulses wholesale prices have gone up 30% in the last couple of months, so sounds like a stock of lentils/beans etc is a good move.

Vanoonoo I am very sorry about the terribly sad incident at your colleagues' workplace. I agree, it is desperate when someone is driven to such acts of horror.

Just a point I wanted to make for a long time, preppers: I want to thank everybody for posting all the interesting stuff, but I am not posting much because I am mostly on DH's ipad, and it is an absolute bu**er to type on that. Only rarely I go on my laptop these days as I have dismantled the office and it is now inhabited by the lodger. So please forgive me for not posting much, I still value this thread and still read it every day.

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Ha... I can see all the political arguments about the Greek bailout dragging on till the zombies and greys arrive lol. There has been a temporary plan put in place to pay the bonds that are due this Friday. I couldn't work it out it was so complicated, so I won't even try to explain how it works. I do know that once the plan was explained the stock market here went tumbling like a heavy rock.

The bailout money they are talking about is a loan that Greece should have received back in July when the EU told the Greece how to vote in their general elections for fear of not getting the money. It was delayed again in August as they said they wanted more changes and taxes. Now they are delaying it again as they are all arguing amongst themselves even though it was voted in by the Greek parliament. Meanwhile the supreme court here has ruled the changes and the implementation of them unconstitutional and illegal. Not sure where they go next on that one but the EU will not discuss it before next week. They offered to extend the time to pay back by two years but refused to give the money anyway.

The coalition government here have had so many resignations this week that they have a very small majority left and one false move (or one more jailing for tax evasion) would lead to another general election. I can't vote in them , even though I live here officially and legally.

I think the Europe wide strike is Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain and possibly France. There may be others joining in, I won't know till it happens.

That is about it in a nutshell...there are so many intrigues going on that its better than watching a daily soap opera.

On the other side of the world there is another storm brewing off the east coast which will strike around Thanksgiving (I think its around 21st/22nd).

Just a quick aside - I do a lot of writing & often have to use my iPad because everyone else "needs" the Mac. I invested in a little wireless keyboard that can go with it & it's brilliant - a really nice & well-worthwhile little gadget. Should probably have spent the money on something more future-proof but it's made life a fair bit easier! :D
