Latest severe weather tracking update.
Low pressure expected to hit the NW of England, Ireland and Scotland this coming weekend has deepened on the latest GFS 12z.
Winds gust to 80mph possibly 90mph on latest output. Current output suggests very strong winds for much of Northern England along with heavy rain. We will continue to track this winter storm, lets hope the track changes!“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. Interesting site 2T, looking at their longer term predictions-obviously the further ahead you go the more uncertainty there is, but they are now the second longer term forecast I have seen where models are favouring a very cold and snowy December. Good a reason as any to get stocked up and make any winter preps sooner rather than later.

hello *very big grin*
thanks for the info 2T - I really hope things in your world pick up soon! you are a trooper you really are.
I've driven the miraculously mended mini it to work this morning and had two police cars, a riot van, two fire engines and now an ambulance go past on their way to something in a sleepy village outside loughborough, so any news on this in the outside world do let me know! I suspect the SHTF somewhere for someone.
I had some awful news at work yesterday - we heard that some colleagues of ours (in another country) had been seriously injured when another colleague had gone into the work place with a gun and shot four people and then killed himself. I am horrified to say the leastI dont know any more info than all four colleagues (other than the gun man) are all still alive but two are critical. It's a terrible sadness that someone is driven to something like that.
Please all keep safe and keep posting xBlah0 -
How awful Van,
No words can cover such a devestating event. It does not seem to have made the news(though perhaps I have missed it)but then again you wonder if it is just a case of which stories the media choose to cover. Also, if it was not in the States perhaps for some reason it is not seen as important. If it was the US again you wonder why one such story is seen as worthy over another.
The only news I can find in your area is a multi vehicle accident mentioned on the BBC Leicester website but not much information between the Wysell Lane junction and the A60 Loughborough Road junction."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Could it be anything to do with the release of Abu Hamza?
He has been released this morning, possible the prison was in that area (HMP Long Lartin).0 -
Or it could be my batty Grandma setting something (herself / the house / the whole village) on fire again, have phoned her (no reply!) now phoned Dad to make sure he is aware and gets hold of her .....
I'd actually prefer it to be the Abu Qatada issue kicking off I think.Start info Dec11

At the moment the low is off the west coast of Scotland and is still developing. Yes, the forecast is for this weekend coming but it could be out by a day or so. I think the storm might move further south before moving in so I would think the North would get it and maybe the Midlands as well. I am glad it is of help to some of you. I will continue to post updates.
My husband went back to the hospital but they just checked him over and put him on antibiotics (again!) and told him to see the specialist tomorrow. He has to keep the packing in his nose to stop it bleeding again. Still no idea what caused it unless it was the horrible sinus/ cough virus he had for three weeks. Maybe we will never know...
I took the car in for the major service this morning and I am very pleased with the job they did. They rang me on my mobile for approval to replace the front brakes and the side light bulbs.....and charged 193 euros in total. For a major service here by the dealer that is fantastic, its half the price I paid for the last major service.
Now at home with time to relax for an hour. It keeps clouding over here for a while then the sun comes out again. It's forecast to be like this for the next few days. It was really cold and damp this morning with fog in the valley but now we are up to 24 degrees again. Down to 6 degrees tonight so the fire will be lit shortly before the sun goes down.
At the moment the politics are in total chaos here and in Europe. The EU and IMF have just agreed to disagree and yet again they are putting off any decision on the bailout. I have given up worrying about it...even the prime minister was heard to utter Que sera sera yesterday! There are no solutions by the look of it but I do know the average person here has no more money to give..........which makes for a dangerous situation as they have nothing left to lose by starting to fight back. It's only a matter of time in my opinion. The strikes are on different days this week and I have lost track of who is striking and when. There is a strike over the whole of Europe on 14th November to show solidarity with each other over the austerity cuts that are making people suffer.
The government have just announced that the ferry companies are cutting journeys and sailing less often to save running costs...which means that imports and food deliveries will be affected.
Our postman did not come four days out of the five last week and he has not been to the village yesterday or today. I don't know when he will be back and as my OH says, you feel like you may never get post again.
Just bought a load of baking things from Lidl that were dirt cheap, decorations for cakes, ground hazelnuts etc. Going to do some baking of gluten free goodies to keep myself cheerful......as I have eaten all my emergency chocolate LOL“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come.
