Love your country but do not trust your government
i think that can be said of just about every country these days perhaps it has always been that way but more so now..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Craigyvw ilove the smell of ironmongers shopss too. We have one near the little village we shop insometimes and one in Stockport but they dont smell of paraffin anymore so I was disappointed. OH asked about the parrafin and they said they have to sell it in bottles now due to elf and safety
I now have a supply of used cordial bottles with water in for washing up and stuff stashed in the cupboard as well as drinking water. I know it wont make a massive difference but it makes me feel better. We have always had problems with the mains supply for some odd reason so I know that in a crisis we will quickly lose our supply. Once the house is more sorted I will extend the collection of bottles - am working on getting rid of stuff since the loft clearance as OH doesnt seem as upset about getting rid of things now we have bitten the bullet. He is getting quite excited by my fleabay selling too.Clearing the junk to travel light

okay.....this is an early warning about UK weather around the weekend.
My friend the storm chaser has just sent me some info and I thought I would warn you. There looks to be a really bad storm developing that may well hit Ireland, Scotland and the North of England around the weekend. I have the projected weather map as to how it will probably look by Friday but I can't remember the link to upload it to so that it can be put on here.....can anyone remind me what to upload it to so I can put it on this thread? Thanks..“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Hello CRAIGY of course you can come with me if ever you find yourself in deepest darkest Hampshire, it's one of my favourite places. This morning I couldn't find what I wanted and wandered round the shop and found a Pie Form for raised pies that comes apart when the pie is cooked i.e all 4 sides come off separately so you can get the pie out in one piece, for £13 amazing value because they are usually VERY expensive. I also, when I had asked and been sent upstairs got my DDs coal hod, but a tiny one just the right size for her little victorian grate for £10 wow!!!!! I found another little treasure of a shop there today, an old fashioned sweetie shop with big jars of sweeties lined up on shelves in the window, back to childhood in a flash, oh it made me so happy!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0

That fits 2T.
PC predicted a very major storm 22-24th (+/- a day or so) for Ireland and NW Britain. SE very mild. Substantial wind damage, hail and thunderstorms. Got to admire the man, he sent us this forecast on 16th october0 -
I often find that tying one end before adding it to the solution works wonders. The smell is rather nice as well.0

Kittie I am a great believer in PC, its only unfortunate that I can't afford to subscribe to him. The weather predictors (as opposed to forecasters) are so accurate these days weeks in advance. It's staggering when they do this ,when the local forecasters can't even get it right on the day!
The weather here is really strange...it clouded over early this morning, then it went really muggy and feels like its going to pour with rain. Feels real stormy and headachy....I just hope we don't get the storms that have flooded Italy as we are on the west coast and get hit hard by them.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Hope this link works. It shows how the storm will look NEXT weekend.

Had a rough day today one way or another...as you all know I broke my back tooth on Friday..the one with new root canal work...and had to eat soft food all weekend instead of going out to dinner as a treat.
I phoned the dentist early today and the receptionist tried to fob me off with an appointment on Thursday...if they weren't on strike. So I told her to get the dentist to phone me as the broken tooth was sharp as a razor and cutting my tongue. He rang me and told me to go in at 11.30 as it should be easy to fix if the root canal work was not damaged. Great news, the root canal work was intact so he put pins in and did a filling without hurting me once. 30 euros for private emergency appointment...very good!
Decided to go to the gym but half way there my husband had a really bad nose bleed. Had to pull over and I took over the driving. It was so bad I had to pull over while he went to the bathrooms at the port to sort it out....scaring the cleaner to death as he rushed past covered in blood! I was illegally parked on a dual carriageway but the policeman trying to conduct the traffic nodded then ignored me. It had stopped bleeding 20 mins later so we went home to have some soup and a cuppa.
Set off again for the gym and his nose started pouring again so I insisted on driving him to A and E. The staff were great, straight in, straight onto a bed with all the staff around him trying to stop it bleeding. They used some meds to stop the bleeding and had to plug it. Eventually he was allowed home but he has to go back to see the Ear,nose and throat specialist tomorrow morning.
I have to take the car in for its major service so the plan is to drop him off at the hospital when I take it in , if its raining heavy. Otherwise he will take his scooter and I will take the car in as we can't cancel the service as they are doing it discounted by half. The builder will have to wait till one of us gets home to start repairing the balcony from the earth tremor damage........
I am also keeping a close eye on the weather coming to Greece as I really hope the floods that are hitting Italy are not going to hit us next. Now I need to phone my mother in law and convince her to stock up on food and meds as she might be getting the bad storms at the weekend. Wish me luck with that one...she is so stubborn...if its not on the BBC its not really happening for her!“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0
