Where is your sense of adventure woman? If the pastry turns out like mine, just think what a devastating weapon that would make against the Zombies!!!!!!! Oh alright, JusRol if you must, that will save cash at least, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Hello everyone!
My trick with pastry was to not tell anyone what kind of pastry it was supposed to be until *after* it was baked... Now bread, that was something else. You could make bunkers out of my bread. Or cannonballs.
I have finally got my rabbit pen screwed together, what a fuss! Ended up using a hammer and screwdriver because the power drill/screwdriver was useless. Now have a stonking headache. Catching up with washing etc now too0 -
Er HELEN - I had a vision of a writing pen shaped like a rabbit, until I got to the hammer, screwdriver and power drill - I really must take more water with my afternoon tea!!!! How sad am I?, Cheers Lyn x.0

Hi all,
Brrrrrr its might frosty today , my excuse for staying in comfy joggers and thick socks all day.
OH and I dug over the garden yesterday taking out the soggy sad looking remains of veg and weeds. Looks like a proper garden now with all the shiny frosty kale, I know its a four letter word but i love it.
Sadly the birds have beaten us to most of the apples but I suppose there need is greater than mine just now as I have a cupboard of supplies to wade through.
Starting to feel all excited about Yule so been checking out the candle stash, need to get some lovely green ones on my next shopping forray i think.
Have a lovely evening all

Since it comes under the heading of prepping - where's the best place for candles? I have some plain white ones but need more, and also want some nice xmassy ones..0

IKEA - Cheapest and best quality for the price MAR for everyday white ones. Don't know if they have specifically christmassy ones but I know they do red ones as standard all the year. Cheers Lyn xxx.0

I agree - ikea for candles - altho I know you can get bargains at charity shops - I think it's GQ who gets them from her local ones at about £1 a go for church candle pillar type ones. we've got a fair few tealights and some bigger pillar ones and some smelly posh ones but I think the next trip to ikea will be a candle stocking up job.
nottingham was lovely today gorgeous and crisp with the armistace parade going round the town too which was nice to see, altho there was a big area cordoned off by police as a result of an incident there last night so if anyone hears anything about the bit outside pr1mark, please do let nosey noo know!
I was really pleased with how the pastry came out - I wonder if because of my arthritis I didnt fiddle or knead too much so maybe that's why I am lucky and it came out ok! I just mixed the flour and fat together into bread crumbs and then added water a spoonful at a time and stirred it until it came into a ball on its own! stuck it in the fridge whilst I got the filling ready and then rolled it out and plonked it on the pie filling and then in a hot oven for half an hour or so. I have to say tho, before this stupid dairy intolerance I was a jusrol girl too once I'd finished nannying, sometimes even ready rolled! but having had success with the pure spread I am converted backit also means I know I can make it on demand now which was a faff with the frozen stuff. not sure if I can manage puff pastry tho - too much rolling.
oooh just realised I can make mince pies this year! yay!
anyone seen DD&D recently?Blah0
