TONSILS - on another forum somebody has a stash of anti epilepsy drugs she stashed but is now off them. She was saying how sad it was that people with her condition in Greece have no meds. Would it be possible to send that over to you or anybody over there who might use it?

There are organisations now who are collecting in date meds and distributing to those with prescriptions who can't afford to buy them at the full price. I will have a look for a link but I think its illegal to send meds through the post because of customs rules. They stopped a company that sent me some antihistamines.

Popps that is exactly right...no matter what they do they will not get the bailout that was due in August. Not that it will make any difference at all as all the money is going straight to German banks and not even making it onto Greek soil. They even asked Greece to borrow more money so they could buy their own Greek debts....you couldn't make it up could you???? Its just crazy. I see Obama is now talking about having to tax the rich. I also wonder how much debt other countries are in, especially since I saw that Greece only owes 7 percent of all the debt of the EU..... I think America is in big trouble as well, just not advertising it.

Someone said to me the other week that the S will HTF financially in the states and that he thought it would be either a series of natural disasters or a terrorist hit that would bring it down...seems as if nature might be first as there are signs of another storm developing that could hit around Thanksgiving day.

The talks in the EU today broke up after nine hours as they cannot reach agreement on their own 2013 budget. To think that they are continually pushing Greece to make their budgets in detail right up to 2020 I think they could use some of their own advice!!!!

Since I can't go out to dinner tonight with my broken tooth we are going to go out for a sing song at a new Greek/English karaoke down the coast from us tonight instead. It will make a nice change and I will make a nice soft prawn Korma with oyster mushrooms and egg fried rice before we go.:T

Just found two interesting articles on the situation, one from October and one from today

    http://www.ipsnews.net/2012/10/greek-state-on-life-support/

    http://www.ipsnews.net/2012/11/creditors-stalemate-brings-greece-to-knife-edge/

Both are very good explanations which try to keep it simple and easy to understand ..although we only know a fraction of what is really going on behind closed doors.....and dare I say it......closed minds....

Did Iceland leave the EU butterfly? I do really admire them, they just got on with it and dealt with it - not the usual passing the buck and fudging that our lot do.

Iceland is a member of the EEA , which allows the country access to the single market of the European Union (EU). It is not a member of EU they have been negotiating to join the EU but there is hefty opposition to it

Not ignoring all your post 2 Tonsils but the three points above are well made and though I did not mention them I noticed your concerns about America and the fact that the EU cannot agree.

Both are really worrying and scary...Now it is also interesting that the plan Stateside appears to be to tax the rich also to build their way out of trouble with lots of projects like improving roads/building and repairing bridges etc...in the UK the rich are getting rax breaks and those from middle income down are being affected by all the austere measures coming in...

I don't have the answer but I don't think those who are supposed don't really know either.

well so much for snoozing - husband finally decided I was right about wanting to move the room to a new layout so I've been shifting furniture since my last post which has built up a good appetite so along with mrslurcherwalkers apple crumble and nuatha's oatmilk custard, I am going to attempt chicken pie, making my own pastry using pure spread eeeeep! wish me luck folks, if all else fails I shall rebrand is as chicken casserole :) rubber chicken remains from earlier in the week currently in the slocooker

  • NOO - The pure range makes most things including pastry really well. DD2 had full blown dairy allergy when she was younger and I made most things from scratch very successfully. Do the pastry in the food processor and just let it form a ball. Take it out and pop it into a bag in the fridge for 30 minutes and it should be ,because it is, just normal pastry!! Enjoy the chicken pie!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.
