It's an MR slowcooker and I haven't used it for a couple of months and when I got it out of the box today, the brown ceramic pottery dish was covered in fuzzy grey mould.:( On the inside and the outside.
Close examination revealed that the pot is badly glaze-cracked inside and out.
I'm dead ticked as I've only had it a year, have used it less than 20 times and am always very careful about not subjecting crocks to thermal shocks but putting them in water/ water in them etc until stone cold. Once I've washed the pottery bit up and dried it, I let it air-dry for several hours before assembling it back into its box where it lives in a warm sitting room.
I can't for the life of me think that anything I've done to the SC has done could have contributed to this glaze-cracking, can you? I used to share a flat with a potter and recall that glaze cracking happens when the body of the pot expands faster than the glaze but can't see how that could have happened.
I've washed it up again, it's air-drying and I'm contemplating taking it back to the shop to have a good whinge.
Anyone else had the same thing happen to their SC and do you know what caused it?
Hi. I had a lovely French dish that went like that - the glaze cracked - looked quite nice - until I took it out of the cupboard one day and it was all covered in mould. Tried cleaning it, but no luck. I hate having to throw things away, especially things I like, but there was no other choice.
But as your SC is quite new, it is probably worth getting in touch with MR and seeing if they will replace it.0 -

Thanks...its not hurting me as its the one I had a root canal done on in March. It was obviously weakened as I only bit a soft bun! Why does it always happen at the weekend when they are not open? I have to go to a private dentist so hope to get in when they open on Monday. Just hoping they are not on strike. Having soft food in the meantime and about to make a rice pudding in the slow cooker so I can feast on that..will be having corn beef hash for lunch and had a protein/banana/honey shake for brekkie. I won't starve lol.....last time I had a problem I cooked liver onions mash and broccoli and then blended it as I was starving...food never tasted better lol. I was three weeks on soft food while they sorted the root canal out.......the first night I was allowed to eat my husband took me to a Freemason's dinner dance....they fed me two huge steaks and I demolished the lot.....ha ha:rotfl:
What you say is true...no matter what version of the SHTF happens to us (we all seem to have different ones) we will be able to cope with the great information on here and the loving support we get on this thread.
Speaking of the SHTF.........its looking very dodgy with the Greek government , the Euro and not getting the bailout. The newspapers world wide are full of it and the word is that they won't be told anything till the end of the month about the money that was delayed from August. Personally I think its far too late to save Greece and they should stop the euro right now.....“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
I agree 2tonsils Greece would be better off going bankrupt, getting out of the Euro and EU and starting from scratch. Iceland did it and are now thriving.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I noticed that it barely was passed by the Greek Parliament(three I believe)and has been said there is a delay on being told you will receive the bailout as you have passed all the conditions we wanted you to do.
Now being cynical is the delay because in reality the other countries paying the money to Greece are actually in quite a state themselves? That they are not being totally honest...I still don't think we are being told everything over here about our own situation..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Did Iceland leave the EU butterfly? I do really admire them, they just got on with it and dealt with it - not the usual passing the buck and fudging that our lot do.0

TONSILS - on another forum somebody has a stash of anti epilepsy drugs she stashed but is now off them. She was saying how sad it was that people with her condition in Greece have no meds. Would it be possible to send that over to you or anybody over there who might use it?0
