Following on from the unrest in Greece as 2 Tonsils has mentioned(and recent events of a similar type)in Spain, Portugal and Italy.
It is now being reported that the "Middle" class has been demonstrating against policies of the Government in Argintina. Where next I wonder and will it have any affect?"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

ETA What's so funny about Floralys t.p. ? It's recycled, you know. I go straight to heaven on the escalator for using recycled t.p.
Used to know a woman who was appalled by the concept even when I told her that it wasn't toilet paper the first time around........
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: oh Greyqueen my eyes are streaming here, and for once not with misery! For some reasone best known to my subconscious, I was reading t.p. as TEXTURED PROTEIN so very puzzled on the recycled comments :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Seriously love reading your posts, they are so full of common sense, good humour and very informative. Thank you! Please be patient with any mis-spellings and typos I am officially useless with a touchscreen keyboard!!! :mad:0 -
Well, I was out in the dark last night, a rare occurrence for me!
We have a row of Aged Miners cottages in the village, one of them was festooned in Christmas Lights! Roof and eaves, windows and trees in the garden. All flashing merrily away! My first thought? 'Oh God! the electricity bill!'
Don't get me wrong I love Christmas but this pensioner must be loaded! either that or plugged in to the nearest lampost!:rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
There are two houses around the corner from here that really put a show on. It must cost a fortune...windows, garden and roof for at least 4 weeks. Wonder if the increase in electric prices will change things...probably not!
Well if you have spent ages building up a collection of lights and novelties you won't leave them unused."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I am approx two months ahead on my prescriptions(somehow)so have spare. Checked the first aid cupboard seem quite prepared there too but...some items have expired so I need to replace antiseptic wipes, a cough bottle, Gaviscon and some deorylete(sp?)
Then all is well again...I like having them in even if they are not used. The one time I decide not to, I suspect that they will be needed."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

And wouldn't that have been an icky mess to clear up?!
Sounds like your subconsious was cast from the same slightly-dented mold as mine; I'm often bowling along the street and see something eg newspaper headline and do a double-take.
It's not nearly so interesting as my imagination had read it as first time.:rotfl:And thank you for the compliment.:o
:hello: Hello and welcome from lurkdom, Chipps. Good to see people come out as preppers. I suspect there's a fair bit of it about, did we but know it.
Errm, without giving real world identifiers, is your "big town" on a floodplain or do they have any other reason to be encouraging people there to think about grab bags etc? I'm interested to know whether it's a local initiative based on a particular hazard of that region or part of something perhaps going nationwide?
Most of my Friday will be taken up with earning my crust but I shall do some prepperish things later (OK one more bottle of water into the stash and some more document scanning).

ETA: Seigemode, I too have the giant poly bag my new mattress came in earlier this year, aren't they fantastic? I've got mine saved in case I move and want to re-bag the mattess for the removal van.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I love this thread
I think we should all practice crocheting and knitting tents with poly bags. Reinforced with paracord natch. Then spray them with cammo paint. Seriously worry the OHs and neighbours
It's amazing how many people can see right though govt and yet nothing is done, nobody seems to be able to do anything about it. They're going round all the sections of society separating us out and setting us at each other's throats, then they sit back in the House bar sipping their subsidised gins and smirking. I know it'll be pensioners next cos we're the only group left standing. What we live on a week, they would spend on one meal.
I had a French friend who used to say that a revolution was a very useful thing to have had ... you only have to do it once, and forever afterwards TPTB are wary because they know if you did it once then you can do it again...:D0 -
Welcome to all newbies and de-lurkers.
Oh dear-since I posted the other day about having a little supply of power cut chocolate I haven't been able to stop thinking about it and last night OH and I ate it all!Keep calm and keep crafting :happyhear0 -
Well you had to check it was ok! So now you can buy more...:)0

I guess it is different but we had a civil war here, a General Strike, three day week and the riot against the Poll Taxes but this lot still keep hammering the population...we've never really had a revolution. Or our worst unrest is such a long time ago, they need reminding what it could be like..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
