i had a light bulb moment i bought a few months back tescos everyday range pasta sauce about 37p i wasnt fussed on it but found another 1 in cupboard and as i was doin spag bol for dinner decided to use it up ........i but a big blob tomato puree in it and some sugar not much and a bit of garlic ......deliscious far nicer than dolmio!!! it will cost me a lot less to buy 1 jar of this and dicky it up approx 55p so i very happy. i know all you os either make your own from scratch but i was happy i found this out.
we have started doing this as it works out ever cheaper than pasata (and esp tinned toms!) at the moment for us - I added stock cubes, garlic, onions (sorry caterina I use both for the husband :o )and something else that I now cant remember and it really turned out tasty - we used the aldi one but I might try the tesco one out too

Oh dear 2tonsils, that is scary :( thanks to you and Maryb also for keeping us updated, there was little on the news last night about this.

Am off to Al*I with my shopping/Christmas prep/regular prep list so hope to return with a couple of extra tins/loo roll and a bottle of port which I know will be used up over Christmas.

Was watching news on US elections last night and there was a Republican crowd holding up banners; one said, 'I want the America back that my dad grew up in', or something similar.

I thought, no politician can give you that, the very rich only care about their own standard of living, and the world's resources just can't support us all any more. I wanted to tell them that going back to -and continuing- more OS style ways is more sustainable.
