:D I just read that as NewShadow's CAT loving the bubbles and was trying to figure that one out........... oh dear, must be tired and time to go offline and do some reading before bed.

    G'night, lovely peeps. GQ xx

GQ, Sorry - I didn't read your post about the hospital tests before posting - Think I might need sleep as well...

With things like that, I've always thought it's the wait that's worse than the news.

Nowadays, survival rates are at something like 90% if they catch it early (and that's why they're testing even though it's not likely).

The next few weeks will be awful (lots of mental hugs), but it's much better you're getting it checked out.

Given you're not wanting to talk to family, please make sure you know you're free to talk here (or not, as you choose).

    (more hugs)

That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Thinking of you GQ. I have had these investigations at least half a dozen times, most recently last autumn, so I know it is an anxious time :( Each time it has been a cyst - at least ultrasound available now means that they can 'see' that it is a cyst (so can you - they look like black holes on the ultrasound picture, quite interesting). Years ago I had to have a general anaesthetic and surgery on every lump and bump and wait for test results. Thankfully not the case now :)

Try not to worry too much, and let us on here know if you are feeling down about it or want to talk. It is understandable that you don't want your family to worry, but you must think of you too xx

People who purse their lips and make sideways comments about those who haven't built up a pension or "paid their way" sometimes just make my blood boil! There is truth in the idea of making your own bed & laying on it, but there are also many, many circumstances outside people's own control that mean you may not be entirely able to make that bed the way you'd like to. But there you go - now I'm the one being judgemental! And way off-thread...

Neither off thread nor judgemental in my opinion.

We do what we think/hope is right and we do it as best we can - as far as circumstances allow us to.
I'm far happier putting people before profit, and am well aware that that has a real impact on my earning potential and financial future, but I have to live with my decisions and their consequences and I'd rather be less financially well off and have contributed to the welfare of those I care about than the opposite.

I'm sure I had something more insightful to say but I've spent much of the last 24 hours watching just how well our over burdened health service does its job and then read more recent posts.

GQ distraction might be the best way to reduce worry and stress while waiting for results. There's been some excellent authors recommended. Unfortunately there isn't a second series of the Dresden Files (though there's a good few books) but for epic fantasy, Game of Thrones is well done.
There's certainly going to be a lot of good wishes, prayers and support from the OS forum including folk who've been through it. I really hope the issue is benign and solvable and that you manage to distract yourself from most of the stress.

Fingers crossed GQ. Try not to worry - they're pretty speedy on BC, and very good at detecting it. I've just had my 4th (or is it 5th) investigation and the important thing is that you are getting checked out because something feels different. As Nuatha says, distraction is the best way to deal with the problem as ultimately worrying won't effect the outcome.

GQ Sending you positive vibes and a gentle hug if you want one .
I light a lovely lavender candle for all who are worried , ill or troubled in any way . I started this for C Chick and have done it each evening ever since . I shall be thinking of you each day and hoping all is well .
Meanwhile to add to Nuathas distractions , I suggest you give your steel a good sharp edge and go get the slugs .

It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

There but for fortune go you and I.

With regards to people with no pension/savings etc, I'm one of those people and I still have 5 years on my mortgage at 65.
But there are reasons, when I was 50, my ex and I had almost paid off our mortgage, had in excess of £96000 in savings and had a business with a turnover of 4 million.
Fast forward to now, the ex and his new younger wife have no mortgage, even more savings and are still profiting from the business.
I'm 65 this year, I found out earlier this week that I'm being threatened with redundancy, I have a poorly paid job, I had to get a mortgage at 51 to put a roof over mine and my children's heads, I have negligible savings.
Truly a SHTF scenario, and I get very annoyed when people suggest I should have been 'more careful'

Me too GQ,hoping for a good outcome I know there is no point in saying don't worry, but keep yourself busy and think positive thoughts.

Hugs if you would like one
