GQ - hoping for the best outcome for you, so sorry that you're having to wait for news. Do try to distract yourself with good books. Walking helped to distract me when I was ill last year, :)

Hey GQ I read this yesterday, it popped up on my Facebook feed. You may have too as I know you read a lot of these kind of blogs

You did the right thing telling us, especially if you don't want to tell family. No one should keep things like that all to themselves...

I'm sure it'll be fine but, as others have said, it's the waiting that's worse....

With regards to people with no pension/savings etc, I'm one of those people and I still have 5 years on my mortgage at 65.
But there are reasons, when I was 50, my ex and I had almost paid off our mortgage, had in excess of £96000 in savings and had a business with a turnover of 4 million.
Fast forward to now, the ex and his new younger wife have no mortgage, even more savings and are still profiting from the business.
I'm 65 this year, I found out earlier this week that I'm being threatened with redundancy, I have a poorly paid job, I had to get a mortgage at 51 to put a roof over mine and my children's heads, I have negligible savings.
Truly a SHTF scenario, and I get very annoyed when people suggest I should have been 'more careful'

Hugs Hester, but in light of the link above, you might have been richer but still married to a t0$$er :rotfl:

to put a roof over mine and my children's heads,

I don't think it's likely you want to, but I just wanted to mention:

If, with hindsight, you feel you were poorly advised, pushed into agreeing something unfair, or the value/potential of your joint assets was not considered, you can request a reassesment by the courts.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

  • NS, I am looking at going back for a 'second bite of the cherry' as my ex swindled me out of a lot of money, but I can't afford to spend much on this.

I had that some years ago, daz. I think I was prescribed gaviscon + 2 different antibiotics to take together. I hope you will soon feel much better if you don't already :)

Washing up last night I heard the familiar gnawing sound again coming from the bottom of the cupboard to the right of my cooker. This is in a different run of units to where the previous one got in. I put a mouse trap in there and went to bed.

This morning I've had the plinths off and swept & mopped up the poo. I think last night's rat came up through the hole where the gas pipe for the cooker comes up. I can see that I filled all the gaps between floor & wall with expanding foam about 11 years ago, but I guess he has chewed through it.

I've been to Robert Dyas to buy three bait stations and distributed them round the kitchen. Is there anything else I can do?
