I personal view is that all religions are backward and insular. Religion encourages fear and suspicion and to me it's the worst thing that ever happened to the world. Put medicine and physics back hundreds of years for a start. But I know I'll get howled down and possibly burnt at a stake lol
No restrictions on alcohol or food except for allergies though dark chocolate hobnobs can lead to the dark side. We can even send Christmas cards and work on our holiest day of the year even as we celebrate with a single phrase of "May the fourth be with you".
We are not anti science and are quite ecologically minded trying to live with the force. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

That house is fab... I would love that.
I wonder if the fake sheep come with it....
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

I saw that one and thought "Oooh...like that...I could find a use for that cave". Looked like quite an attractive road the house is in too. I'm very fixed on "gotta be a detached house" - but I might be prepared to make an exception for one like that.
Though, obviously, the EA concerned has clearly put out a lot of publicity for that house figuring it will virtually sell itself. My reaction was "That house will be gone within a week - and probably for rather more than its asking price at that".
Still...consoled myself with the thought that probably a lot of people wouldn't want someone with my "rip everything out and modernise" tendencies buying it LOL - as all that artwork would doubtless vanish in the process (though I like it...).0 -

Mar I thought Spiritualism was a religion? There are Spiritualist churches, after all
Not being awkward, just surprised/confused.0 -
Being an open toed sandal wearer who aims to do good with my life and still lives in the real world (or as much in the real world as is possible for a middle aged hippy) I suspect I've got a better grip on multiculturalism than many close minded followers of the Murdoch and Rothmere empires.
Unfortunately the refusal to treat others with respect and a willingness to mix isn't limited to any culture.
A vicious circle indeed. One group shows lack of consideration for another, and this begets further lack of consideration in return. And mardatha has a valid point about religion, although I would say a lot of the time it is mankind's interpretation of religious teachings that is the problem.
Another poster on MSE has the following quote in their signature - "Why can't everyone just sit and read books and be nice to each other?"
Now if everyone followed that, what a nicer world this would be!One life - your life - live it!0 -

I agree it temnds to be interpretation that is the issue, though most teachings are based on interpretations - it amazes me that people who basically follow the same Deity can have so many exclusive ways of being right, many of which seem to contradict the the core teachings they hold to be sacred.Another poster on MSE has the following quote in their signature - "Why can't everyone just sit and read books and be nice to each other?"
