I personally haven't heard of Godwins law and its immaterial anyway - anybody can see what they're up to - and when you know your history you can see where they're headed. Too much power is always a bad thing isn't it. However there's not a lot we can do except empathise and prep even harder
The snow has given everybody a push to get more things sorted I think.

The UK is still firmly in control of our own finances though isn't it? Is it? Is that one thing we can be grateful to Cameron for?0

we've not joined the euro Fuddle, thanks to various governments not just Cameron. The 'common market', which is how it all started, was a good idea - making trading much easier between European countries made sense. Brussels should have left it at that. I'm very anti-EU in case you haven't noticed... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

re Godwins law - my comment was more about that fact the Brussels have finally admitted to a long term aim for a Europe united under one government. Taking over the Greek finances is a nice step towards that and I don’t think they’ll ever give control back to the Greeks. The Germans and the French are calling the shots because they’re the strongest economically.
that is one of the most realistic solutions, to have one government.
in theory i never minded the idea when studying the EU, you should have read my essays about how great the ECB is!!
theres positive money

and many other alternatives i cant be bothered to read about.

someone also recommended stuff by a recent nobel prize winner in economics but errr i dont keep up with who wins nobel prizes and i cannot remember his name. Might be Ron Alvin.
i rember amartya sen though and his theories on why there is famine (not through lack of food, but through the distribution of food).

is this too much for the wrong thread? happy to delete.0 -

Having one government for Europe is a Utopian dream. Once you start to take on board nationalistic feeling in the varied nations any thought of peaceful co-existing under one set of rules becomes a non starter. The USA was achieved because it developed from scratch, Europe has too many long memories and too many feuds.
Thankfully the snow is melting now, the site is getting ready for a big Halloween party tonight in a big marquee. I am going smartly dressed in wellies and thermals!
There is a massive rabbit sitting next to our van sunning it'self. I thought it must be a hare because it's ears are so big, but DH informs me hares have a black dot on the backs of their ears! Feel horrible today, been a bad week tbh. DD2 and DD3 been ill first-fluey/chesty and DD2 ended up at the GP's and is on antibiotics-she has heart issues so they won't risk her getting secondary infections in the heart tissue.
Been worried about OH, not posted about it previously as trying not to think about it. He found a lump below so to speak. The ultrasound suggested an infection, phew we thought and he had strong AB's for a week. Second scan shows no change so now refferal to hospital. Worried as the consultant he is going to see is a surgeon-she did my Dad's prostrate op a few years ago-weirdly her name is ms blades.
Oh reckons he has found a small lump on the other side as well now. Waiting for appointment next week. Trying to hold onto the fact he had a lump out 20 years ago which was a cyst in the end, and a vasectomy a year ago so must be alot of scar tissue, which maybe why the US's were unclear.
I guess the S can HTF close to home at any time sometimes.
