Hi all
Sorry been missing in chaos of RL work stuff recently so just caught up with all the chat.
Noo, do we get to make a big happy 50 members cake, with paracord ribbon, and marzipan picture of tins of toms and spuds:D?
Loads of useful stuff being shared, I definately don't have enough cat food stored so will need to get that sorted pronto, will probably buy some dog food incase parents puppy is here too.
Its bloomin baltic here today, most winter preps are sorted but got bits and pieces left (curtains need put up to help with icy lothian blasts).
Right, day off today so going to have a tidy up, as house is looking particularly chaotic, must do better otherwise ill definately not get my guide badge for housekeeping.
D&DD mum is doing really great, back to being her lovely self, thanks x
Lovely to see new people joining , welcome:T.
Hugs to all

Doing well, thanks D&DD, but looking forward to having the cast off next week.. Not looking forward to having the stitches out. Last time it hurt so much I nearly fainted. Didn't help that the nurse was long sighted and to start with didn't have her glasses on. Even when she put them on it was obvious she couldn't see very well.
(Why is it that people who get long sighted as they get older always pull the corners of their mouths down when they peer at what they are trying to see. Does it actually help?)
Filling the freezer beforehand has made a big difference. I won't be able to drive for another couple of weeks but I've got me a bus pass and I head out with my Rolser each day so I can shop little and often. I bottled out of getting a jazzy cover for my Rolser when I bought it (we are talking 5 years ago) so it's boring navy blue. Grey Queen, I know you are quite tall - do you find it catches on your heels when it is empty? It's fine when it's loadedIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Yeah I suppose your right, if we sent the soldiers out, who would fight our battles ? The weather here is starting to turn and it makes me worry, but we have all posts covered, plenty of food, fuel and candles lol!!!!! Ohh and a snow spade!!! Which I didnt expect to get out for another couple of months!!!Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

Glad you're on the mend. Last time I had stitches out they were being taken out of my face; eww.
Memo to self, stop brawling in pubs.........:rotfl:
Re the Rolser, I was pleasantly-surprised at how tall the handle is. I'm 5' 11" and most of that is legs and when the Rolser is upright the top of the handle is level with the top of my pelvis.
A lot of the trollies I see are far too low for me, but then again there are plenty of peeps around the 5 foot-mark so there's a demand there. I don't catch the Rolser on my heels but I do find (and only when it's empty) that I can try to corner too tightly and run into the edge of something. Love ma Rolser!
Had a couple of exhausting days in the salt mine, soooo exhausting that I wasn't even online after work yesterday, which is unheard-of! Haven't even read this week's essay at my favourite online site, which is published Weds in US and seems to appear on Thurs over here.
Just chilling while my tea cooks; whoopsied pork chops, h.g. lottie potatoes (blight-free, ner) and pre-prepped carrots in the steamer. Laters, GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

We have had a flake or two of snow in West Yorkshire. In Queensbury (above Halifax) our neighbour, a bus driver tells us it is snowing, Queensbury is very high up.

Hi everyone, been really busy today but had a night from hell last night. At 8 last night I started having a nasty allergic reaction to something I had eaten, itching all over, sneezing, eyes running....the Mentoes were fine and the ice cream was not the suspect (thank god..I can't do without my ice cream!) so didn't know what it was. I itched all night and had to take more antihistamines and my inhaler at 5am in order to get to sleep. Up at 8 to look after the gym and shattered. I took some lunch and a few cashew nuts with me and discovered it was the nuts I was reacting to!!!! There is no warning of wheat or gluten on the packet so I am sending them back to complain.
Then when I got to the gym, I couldn't get the door open due to the lock being blocked by dust....and after I got rescued by a knight in shining armour the flaming treadmills wouldn't work.I figured that was my 3 unlucky things together...what a day!
Tonight I got a notification that we are in for some horrendous weather over the next 6 days.....strong thunderstorms and two of the days are listed as likely to bring us up to 6 inches of rain in 24 hours!!!! I really hope that its something lost in the translation and a mistake with numbers, but I don't think so........bringing in the ton of wood and stacking it when it's delivered on Sunday is going to be fun....
Just seen three pieces of awful news for Greece and the people who live here. The first is that the unemployment money is not going to be paid to anyone who works in certain jobs, even if they have all their contributions paid up in full and are entitled to it. No money at all for the winter for some.
The second piece of news is that they have sacked all the tax and local admin staff and Germany wants to bring in their own inspectors to run the government offices. According to the news all the services in the islands will be amalgamated and we will have to deal with all the bureaucracy on the mainland!
The third piece of news is from a leaked document and says that the Troika are going to say that Greece is not going to get the bailout unless they bring in more new measures besides those yet to be voted on , and let all tax and vat revenues go straight into an account run by people outside the country. In other words, a form of receivership for Greece.
It's not looking good folks. I am going to deal with things day by day and the first thing will be the storms over the weekend. The last of the tourists will be flying back to the UK so hope they have a safe , uneventful trip back. Nothing worse than getting stuck at the airport in the storms..
If I do not post don't worry as storms often take away our internet for days on end. I will post when I can, and we are well prepared for anything that is thrown at us. Have a great weekend folks xxxx“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. There is no way in hell the Greeks should let the Germans move in on them! :eek:0

that's the most worrying part of this euro crisis for me mar, because I don't think they will ever give it back to the Greeks;... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
