Political rant(maybe)Doon't worry everything is going to be fine...today we are told that the economy has grown at it's fasted rate since 1950 and with 1% growth the recession is over so all is well...

Who believes that? No neither do I...so I can see more SHTF. The Olympics saved the UK don't you know...carry on as before...in the next breath we have more large job losses announced to day and...a report saying that the average family is £1,800 worse off annually/compared to last year...

my doctor told me months ago to build up some reserves of meds as he was sure there were going to be shortages...he gave me extra on the prescriptions but also told me I could buy them over the counter as long as I bought the same dosage until told otherwise. Hence I have a store of thyroxine now and the shortages have started at the pharmacies. It seems Greece was buying /producing cheap drugs then exporting them and making a profit, but they exported so many to make money they have left a shortage here. It's now been stopped till the stocks build up again. Not so desperate with my condition, but heart drugs, morphine and chemotherapy are all desperately short at the moment and folks are going without them.

Talking of drugs...there is a bit of a scare going on and some of the flu vaccines have been banned for use here and in Italy until they do further testing on them because of unexpected side effects. I am adding the link for you to have a read:

I did notice that the horrible cough virus that went round started at exactly a week after the flu vaccines were being given out.....the same thing happened last year as well. It makes me wonder!

Had a bit of a crisis for a couple of days but okay now...the bank staff called a sudden strike on Wednesday and stopped working immediately, then voted today and went on strike again. Most annoying with no notice and the ATM machines not being restocked with cash. Luckily my OH had drawn out this week's housekeeping money when he filled his bike with petrol on Tuesday evening, but didn't bother telling me till today, my shopping day! Men, you've just gotta love em!

Hence I went to the shops today and increased my stocks. I also found the man in the village who cuts wood for the fire, so have ordered a ton of olive wood which he will deliver on Sunday for us. They have just forecast the evening temperature to drop to five degrees tomorrow night so its probably good timing (it will be 26 in the day, so hell of a drop!).

Meanwhile the arguments continue with all the politicians, it must be stressful as they are dropping like flies from various health conditions.

Good news on my thyroid blood tests...they are near perfect and getting very close to where my endocrinologist wants them to be for optimum health and well being for me. I go for the scan on my thyroid on 5th November. Well pleased....

  • Ohh I feel for you. It must awful. I wouldnt stockpile as drugs are dated and you cannot use them past their date. You want to see the amount of drugs The NHS dispose of every year, its shocking. Were I work you can see the out of drugs getting ready for disposal cages and cages full of them. It makes my blood boil. Good luck for the fifth of Novemeber.

Whilst he's pleased he's alive still, he wishes he had decided before the event what to take as many treasured things were left that he could have taken if he'd have given it some thought. He had nothing useful with him either, left his wallet and all ID behind. He had nothing except the clothes he was wearing and a few things that reminded him of his wife.

Since then he has gathered assorted mementoes from the family and now has 2 bags ready, one for her things and one for his.

Annie123 - that is so sad. Hope he is ok.

    Hello lally

My DB was in 'unnamed group related to army' in late 1980s and was given 'secret' leaflet where they were told in no uncertain terms to leave families and deploy as military in event of SHTF emergency. Oh, and to keep public order by shooting looters etc...!

As to UIG's - ahem, neighbour happened to mention that they had trapped a mouse in their kitchen (sheepish smilie); tried to look surprised.....

Seriously wondered whether I should join 'unnamed group' to be in the nuclear shelters with them, or, stay on the 'outside' with family!

Sorry not been around folks, hope ur all well.
