It's snowing and cold. But hey, it's Canada and sometimes the stereotypes are true.
Can I just get this off my chest. I hate people. Day from hell at work (and I left eary to go to physio). How can one surgeon with two theatres !!!!!! up an OR slate so badly. He should have been doing 3 surgeries an hour (each takes roughly 15 minutes) and by 1000 had finished ONE. I hate it when all the families start !!!!!ing at us. Snarl at the doctor not the hospital staff. It was his office that told you to get your aged mother to the hospital at 0700 for an 1100 surgery, which by the way is now running late because said !!!!!! surgeon is putzing around doing gawd knows what.
Other than that, I have a Collie to brush, two sons to read the riot act to, a husband to try and wrangle into doing some odd jobs around the house that he insisits that only he can do and throws a hissy if anyone tries to do.
Could somebody please send that bus my way!
End of rant. None of the surgeries done on my service are live saving, just life improving.0 -
It's the end of the world. I have discovered we only have 2 toilet rolls left. Emergency Costco trip!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

I'm glad being car-less and having a titchy home prevents me from even going to these places as I shudder to think what I might get up to in a big box store with a prepper mindset and hoarderish tendancies.Probably wouldn't be a pretty sight but t.p. is a perfectly legit bulk purchase. I was once playing Non-Food Poker down in the Arms with a very funny lady called Nelski and immediately folded when she told me how much t.p. and other paper goods she had in her garage............ think she was shopping at Costco, too.
Well, it isn't snowing this far south but it was p-ing down when I went to bed last night and it seems to have continued all night and is still p-ing down now. Can't see my planned allotment visit being a viable option although I will have to go up there tomorrow to dump the rotables in the compost bin and may well end up scrabbling around in the soil.
Today I shall amble about attending to a little light retail and researching a preppy-type purchase.

I'm sitting in a caravan covered in snow! It's just a couple of inches, but the farm looks amazing, like one of those traditional Christmas cards. I am irritating my DH by singing 'Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow' :rotfl: He's lucky I could be singing 'Deep and Crisp and Even!'
We just need a robin on the snowy fence and we will have stepped into a classic winter scene.:)Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
Morning all
Some really interesting posts here I'd never heard about Godwins law thanks for posting that Helen and thanks for explaining it Meme.Hope the caravan has a good heater!
I'm always a bit wary of Brussels directorates tbh I don't necessarily think 'united states of europe' is a good thing..
Wondercollie I get really cross with patients in waiting rooms. I spend enough time in them myself and see the marvellous work our NHS staff do and near enough every time I go somewhere I get lumbered with 'the moaner' ranting about the state of our hospitals, lateness etc.I usually tell them not to moan or be rude to the staff as its rarely their fault they are running late as its usually due to equipment failure or emergencies coming in and that usually shuts them up..
Rosie I love the icecube lol just how I feel today! I dug my winter gear out yesterday, thermals will be on soon for dogwalking I think, with all the nasty bugs doing the rounds I don't want to take any chances!0 -
re Godwins law - my comment was more about that fact the Brussels have finally admitted to a long term aim for a Europe united under one government. Taking over the Greek finances is a nice step towards that and I don’t think they’ll ever give control back to the Greeks. The Germans and the French are calling the shots because they’re the strongest economically.
Its bitterly cold here today, winter has definitely arrived
(sorry Dee our posts are out of order now as I deleted whilst I edited)... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
