I think since the riots of last summer and seeing some of the shocking violence brought home in glorious technicolour through our tv sets, a lot of people have woken up to the fact that sadly, we don't live in the safe, cosy little world we once imagined..
I live within spitting distance of the huge fire at Reeves' corner and could see the flames from my house..I've prepped for years for civil unrest due to where I live/proximity to London but to actually experience it and so close to home, well, it truly scared the cr*p out of me I don't mind admitting.
I try to offset worry with humour and with my hoarding tendencies I do have to limit my stores and not get carried away *although I too covet a bunker*
I think it's healthy to talk about worries too,for too many people they don't have support networks in real life nowadays so finding likeminded souls on here is a bonus.
Noo when your film comes you will laugh as there is a red double decker featured..I'm not however saying the passengers look anything like Craprollz lol0 -
:lipsrsealAhh dont feel like that. I have chickens, cat, dog, rabbit, tropical fish and a chiliean rose named sid. It doesnt mean I will eat them all
yes the chickens deffo. It isnt scare mongering and it doesnt mean to be on my part.
But cant you even see that things that people even films have predicted have or on the verge of comming true. I have just gone back to work after a long asbensce and I see things all the time. I always think what will happen when grave space runs out? When the lights dont turn on anymore, food is so expensive that you will have to choose what day of the week to eat. a 100 years time we might be living in space or living in a cave. but doesnt it all matter? Yes of course it does, it matters to anyone who cares enough about this fraglie beauty called earth.
But who to blame? Goverments? Yes for acting to slowly and for having a couldnt give a monkies attitude. Big Corporations? Yes because they just grab, grab, grab all the time and dont care and finally us? Yes because we have plundered and raped this planet for a long time now and now the BXXch is fighting back. You cant blame her. I dont, look at the weather, the storms, earthquakes, we have done the damage and we cannot turn it round.
So it isnt scaremongering in my book, it is the truth. I am glad I am teaching my children how to survive as I know they are going to need it in years to come. Sermon over:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

BigmummaF on many survival sites a lot is made of OPSEC (operational security) and hiding the fact you're a prepper/have stores..Its a sticky subject..on one hand you'd like to spread the word and get others to have a little safety net,on the other if people know you have stores and the SH really HTF would it place your family in danger if neighbours know..would you/could you share? A lot depends on what the situation is etc
During the riots our shops here were shut so I helped neighbours who had run short where I could..but if it was long term should I make my family go without to feed others who've had the same opportunity as I have to ready themselves?? Theres no right or wrong answer we all have to live with our decisions and consciences.
Meds are a worry for a lot of us here and theres no easy answer to that one either..My middle son has a lot of health issues we've had to prep around but his heart is knackered basically and even after he's had his ops he'll need further ones and meds throughout his life so thats something that worries me too..My youngest is Autistic with learning disabilities.. BUT I can't and won't focus on that as it would take something REALLY major happening to ever have to think about that sort of thing and although I do prep for more serious scenarios I have no wish to experience TEOTWAWKI
I hope this post will help, and NOT worry anyone that is certainly not my intention I'm just trying to answer questions honestly XX0 -
Hello all,
I know it was a life time ago as far as this thread goesbut I just wanted to update you. Remember I was talking about making our wills through Will Aid.
Well I made enquiries and the solicitor got back to us within a couple of days :T with an appointment made for early November.
Just thought I would let you know in case anyone was thinking of doing the same.0 -
We had the same problem 2 years ago when the bad snows hit us, we live near a village, but we both own jeeps that were capable of going through snow no problem, we packed a few supplies, blankets, books, candles etc and visited some of the older villagers to see if they were okay and if they needed anything. We even helped an ambulance get to a cottage as the sat nav didnt know were it was. See there is always an emergency, you just dont realise it at the time, you just run on autopilot and do whatever you can to help. Its a shame todays youth isnt like this as these are the ones who are going to need it most.
My husband has a false leg, cardio problems and asthma, I have bi-polar, asthma and I need new knees. But you dont think about it or you would just panic. If you feel like that I would recommend that you look for a natural homopethy book or James's Wong's which is very good. What did people do before all these wonderful meds???? Are they are help or are they a hinderance?Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

Hi lally666young
Governments / Big Corporations seem to me to be pretty much the same thing. I'm sure there are a few honest people around somewhere who haven't been bought, but a lot at the top who run things don't seem do it for the benefit of the people.
The trouble is that so many people get taken in with the bread and circuses (soaps / xyz factor etc) that they don't notice or care. Maybe when the bread finally disappears, they will finally "Wake Up". Will it be in time though to do anything about it.
DS was lucky. He went on a mini bush craft course with the school and is eager to try the things out.

My DIL's uncle lived above RockBottom in Croydon and as you know it was gutted. He'd lost his wife the year before and the police found him above the burning shop still trying to decide what to take in a rucksack. Everything that reminded him of his wife wouldn't fit into the bag so rather than get out he just sat there undecided. The police/fire brigade gave him 10 seconds and then just grabbed him and assorted stuff and got him out.
Whilst he's pleased he's alive still, he wishes he had decided before the event what to take as many treasured things were left that he could have taken if he'd have given it some thought. He had nothing useful with him either, left his wallet and all ID behind. He had nothing except the clothes he was wearing and a few things that reminded him of his wife.
Since then he has gathered assorted mementoes from the family and now has 2 bags ready, one for her things and one for his.
The support of the council and local people was great. So many donated clothes/toys/food/furniture etc for new homes for those made homeless in the riots.
City living may have different dangers to countryside living, so many people squeezed into a small space, it's bound to explode sometimes.0 -

I do agree, who funds the goverments? the big corporations so they can get waway with. TBH I dont watch TV I would rather learn a new skill, my kids are like that to. I know I am one of the lucky ones who live out of town, so I dont get sucked into a vaccum, I hated seeing the riots, it made me sad and angry at the same time. And what does everyone do? Ignore it like it never happened. But the scars are still visible and it has damaged a community. We had the pleasure of our local MP visiting us once and only once, after what we told what we thought of him and to go and get lost as he would not be getting our vote. We never saw him again. He is just a greedy MP and I dont have time for him. He is never round when something happens, but he will be round voting time!
Ecourage your son to use his skills. We are teaching the boys mechanics at the minute as their father is an engineer and he likes showing them things. My 3 year daughter likes to go and collect the eggs and feed the chickens. And she even knows what to feed them!!!! So they are never to young to learn vital skills. No matter how simple the task may beHas anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

I'll go with the RouteMaster, thanks. What I used to drive was actually an RT which was contemporaneous with the RM but a slightly-skinnier version for narrower streets. We have to consider those Greek mountain roads (I'm debating if we should have a prepper walking point to shoo away any goats as I have had experience of attitudinous flocks obstructing roads on Crete).
