  • The programme said that Mr. borrowed £18,000 for the rent the first year he took on the tenancy which would have been a very large sum back in the 1970/1980s (I can't remember the exact year they said) so they are presumably still paying rent on the holding and not owning it. I loved how good natured the children were and how self sufficient the whole family are, also loved the notice about 'Take care - Free Range Children' how I wish every child could have that in their lives!

They rent their farm so I don't see where anyone reckons they have money but then there is nothing like discussing a programme that you have never watched and making your mind up about the people in the programme.
I wasn't saying they had money and don't think anyone else here was. In fact I said I didn't know as I missed the first part of the programme - though I did make a general point that it is often the case and the same general point was taken up by at least one other. So I hope that was not a dig at me or anyone else here.

Yep ty, I just found that just now. Brain still not working sorry :)
Got a copy for 1p. This is hill-sheep-farm country and a few of my neighbours are shepherds, my oldest son once worked as one and my youngest son too in school holidays. That pic of the Yorkshire Dales looks exactly like here.
I would have liked that life but you have to be tough. I don't know what would happen if she got ME, or if she had another baby and died- then all the kids are left with an older dad who would struggle.
But aren't I a cheery wee sunbeam today LOL
  • We have spent the day sorting out the sheds and trying to get some order in them,I now have all preps listed and boxed in plastic tubs with lids.
Sorted the freezers, managed to buy a turkey crown(serves 15) reduced in Asda,it should of been £42.00 it was reduced to £15.00,it's now in the freezer.

In the Daily Mail there is a £10 off a £50 spend at Lidl valid until next weekend.
