Hi 12months, welcome to the thread. Easy does it, you take it one step at a time and find your way as you go. People here are friendly and will help as much as possible.
On the subject of toilet rolls, I buy loads of them via Approved Food, they have packs of 9 for £2.75, not the cheapest you can find but it is recycled paper so it makes me feel all nice and "green". I do believe you can find cheaper toilet paper in L1DL but it is teensy weensy strips, it is a question of preferences really. In case you don't know Approved Food, it is an online grocery store that sells stuff that is coming up to the sell by date (or even gone over the date), very popular among OSers. The website is www.approvedfood.co.ukFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi Caterina, thanks for the approved foods link! I've just had a quick look and am amazed by the variety of foods for sale. I'll have to check it out more thoroughly in the coming days.0

Register on their website and also on their facebook page (if you have a facebook account) because so you can get all the offers and sometimes they do free or discounted delivery offers. Best of luck with your moneysaving! xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

@Caterina - thanks, I'll do that0

Well, the last two days have been interesting. I'm officially on "light duties" and have to have physio 3x a week until the end of September. I'm no longer afraid of Zombies! A little old lady slugged me at work and it's a strained shoulder with an "Oh, it could be a rotator cuff injury, we'll see".
so I definitely need help carrying in the shopping and doing housework.
Might as well face it, the house is going to be a tip for the next two months.0 -
Hi All, I'd like to join in over here as well if that's ok - I've been lurking on and off for awhile but resisting the temptation as I was revising for my OU exam but it's all done now! :j I post over on the tough thread so recognise lots of names. I'm a SAHM with 2 kids, both of whom have a rare genetic disorder which affects their mobility and other bits and pieces.
OH works for Mr T in the next town but we live in a little village which regularly has -on-the-water added to it's name, poor OH had to wade through knee deep water recently to get to work! I have a suitably impressive/mad store cupboard (depending on point of view) and reckon I could feed our whole lane for a good fortnight although there would be some pretty odd meal combos!
We're getting married 2 weeks on Friday, so todays prepping has been making the pie filling for the pies for the evening do - we're having a ceilidh in the village hall with the traditional pie and pea supper - so in case of zombie attack I am quite prepared to drown said zombies in vat loads of mushy peas. Given said preps we are hoping for a happy and zombie free day.
I also have large stocks of fabric and craft materials which could possibly be used to either smother or occupy!
Looking forward to (hopefully) keeping up with the doings on this thread too.

My striped cat is sleeping soundly, and the mouse (who gets in under the kitchen sink) is definitely after the garlic, as I keep finding chewed bits of it in different places. Little b*gger. I am going to set a trap NOW! Let's hope where mice go mutant rats don't follow ....
We also have squirrels galloping about in the loft above our bedroom (old country cottage), but will definitely be stopping up all gaps before getting our (free!!) loft insulation done, as don't want to spend the winter with Cosy Squirrels upstairs. 'night all. xx0 -
Morning everyone.
One step nearer today to finding out what is going to happen with hubby, as we have to go and see a "top brass blokey" today
Can't say much on here but please keep your fingers crossed for us today.
Did anyone see the blind man getting zapped on the news :eek: thats what I call having a bad day !!! terrible thing to happen and I bet it has affected him as it would me I would be scared to ever go out on my own. It must be a blind persons worst nightmare.
Anyway must get on

Got to say if we heard anything running around in the loft DH would be the one pushed up there to deal with it. We once heard a noise at night in a static we had and found a mouse sitting in the middle of the living room. Cue DH chasing it with handy metal implement while I found myself standing on our bed! I have no idea how I got there! :rotfl:
Somewhere in the recesses of my brain I have a warning about squirrels/rats eating through wiring in lofts. You know what it's like, you think you know something but it just might be a load of [STRIKE]crap[/STRIKE]rubbish
Stiltwalker:- I hope you have a wonderful day for your wedding. I know you still have your bridesmaids dresses to make so I can imagine just how busy you are. I hope your Mam is better now. These two weeks will fly by before you know it, all your hard work will be worth it. :grouphug:
I am starting my Christmas food prep today. So looking at pies, Christmas cake, chutneys and alcohol. In December it will be large amounts of Pease Pudding, (I now supply half the family) stuffing and bacon rolls. Over the years I have found that the more I prep the easier my Christmas is. There will be 11 of us for dinner on Christmas Eve and 11 for lunch on Christmas day, and open house both Boxing Day and New Years Day. I like to be able to open the freezer and have instant food. (Can't stand the boxed stuff.)
See, I hardly ever eat pastry, but my mouth is watering at the thought of HM sausage rolls! :rotfl:
PIC:- Bless you, I hope everything goes ok for you today. Sending lots of hugs and prayers. :grouphug:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
Best wishes Paidinchickens - will be thinking of you today.
We had a squirrel in the loft - it did chew through wiring.
You bait a squirrel trap with peanut butter - crunchy. But we had a discerning squirrel who wouldn't eat value brand!
Apparently if you do catch it you have to drive it miles and miles away or it will beat you back down the road :rotfl:
One Sunday night OH went up in the loft and was bashing and clattering about with a metal bar and cries of "come here you Bast*** could be heard by all.
In the end OH just kept breaking up its nest and in the end it got fed up and moved out.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
