Is that for real?????????????????
I know I caused a few nudges when I accepted some at a conference (for the back-pack as emergency water carriers/splints).If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Listening to Smooth radio at the flat I'm working on, they've still got these flaming FSCS adverts on every hour or so:

I'm still trying to work out why the government are spending our money on radio ads to persuade us to put money in the bank.
What's their motivation other than one presumes a sinister one?0 -

thriftwizard, I just read your post. It moved me very much, I want to give you a hug, as a mum myself. What you are doing is right, there is a process that spouses go through and there are some good forums and books. I am reading a kindle book and it helps. Seeing a grandchild was very tiring, uplifting as well but I automatically went into cuddly nana mode, I was the one explaining and giving the cuddles.
I have some space now, they understand and the funeral is taking shape as I want, the children jumped in very fast at first, to take the load but we all now agree that it has to be gentle with some religion for their dad and some livlier stuff for the man he was
I just had a little sob reading your post but even a few second sob helps clear my stressed head
Out in the car now, learning to use sat nav and listening to that lovely voice telling me which way to go. I took several steps yesterday, on my own and am growing and learning
{{{Hugs}}} Kittie; I'm so glad you are getting some say over the funeral now. We're now struggling over the seating plan; close family & friends amount to 55 of us, now where do we sit the Mayor & Corporation?! Also glad you have nipped your cold in the bud as you could do without any extra challenges just now. Do you have a hot-water bottle you could keep yourself a little bit warmer with tonight?
On another tack altogether, does anyone know anything about Streetlife? Looks quite innocuous, possibly even positive & helpful, but I'm getting a tad wary of these things now - cui bono? - is someone trying to sell us something/keep tabs/collect info? Who or what is behind it, does anyone know?Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
still not had chance to fill freezer after defrosting.....so its fray bentos for supper......on an early tomorrow ...uncertain times still at work.....council meeting this week will decide ... whether we are to be privatized technically under tupe we may keep our terms and conditions...but for how long? apparently these days its considered a travesty for carers to be paid over a tenner an hour ...stay safe0
-
Daz one thing to be aware of is that TUPE I think only applies once, so that if your organisation is privatised you have protection of employment rights, but if it is then sold on again you lose them. OF course businesses are aware of this so if your employment conditions are seen as unfavourable to them the second transfer of ownership is probably already planned :mad:0
-
Sounds like daz is presently a local authority employee like me. TUPE doesn't apply to us, but the convention in these circumstances is a TUPE-alike type of thing. Trouble is, even with TUPE, they only have to guarantee keeping your conditions for a shortish fixed time period, then the gloves can come off, if they want.
I think this kind of thing is diabolical. Caring is hard work and should receive a decent wage. My Nan has carers morning and evening, a private company paid for out of her savings, and without them, she could not continue to live in her own home. It's that important.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

nargleblast, yes the healing has begun and I think quickly but maybe because my mind is not addled by drugs from the doc, lovely doc rang to see if they could come out to help me but I said no. I don`t blame anyone, the docs, my hubbie, me, no what ifs, his time was up
Thriftwizard, do you happen to belong to a somerset spinning guild? I am definitely going to join this spring
I have downloaded the form to transfer the house to my sole name, just got to find the deeds, which I know are lurking upstairs. This is part of making sure that I am as tidy as I can be for my next of kin. I am also going to get my will updated to reflect circumstances and to add another executor, to share the onerous burden
I suppose this too is shtf prep, helping the next generation to move forward. I will always have stores in for me, water, food, cooking and I will have all my docs downstairs in a grab case, as now
such uncertain times at work too for one dd and again a gov linked business. So much stress for her. In my day we never had tupe and the like, we were very lucky. I would rather that we had physical struggle, money etc than what the present working generation are going through0
