It is so comforting to know that there is so much kindness here. I found that out too from when dh passed, right from the time he collapsed on the road and air ambulance came. All we hear on the news is horrible stuff about evil people but there is so much good about and I am so much surrounded by support
The paperwork would send anyone crazy. Yesterday I had the stuff from his sipp holders, it looks a straightforward transfer but I still have to send lots of paperwork. I did flexible drawdown and to continue with this I need £12k of secure pension in my own right, phew I just about have that via state and teachers pension. I am going to send that pack by sd today, it is my lifeline
I am learning all the time and I see couples in the village, not always both in the best of health. Learning what I am now, I know I will have the ability to help if needed
I had one of those sobby wobbles this morning after a restless night, all I am doing is talking to myself, loud or in my head. It goes around and around. Music will help later, as will driving out to post letters. All I am doing later is sorting the piles of my paperwork, which are on the dining table. I cannot lose any of it.
I bought a book for grandchildren, it came yesterday, called `badgers parting gifts`, I will be able to give that to their parents this week. We mustn`t forget the little ones
I know I am in a fragile state this morning, I ate my oatmeal but it almost choked me. Strange, up one day and down the next but I suppose, very normal. Maybe I will read some more from my kindle book `widow to widow` Maybe just maybe, sort of, writing this stuff here will help someone in the future. Most couples are left as singles and 3/4 are women

Kittie - my SiL used Badger with her kids when her dad died. It's a great idea. Be kind to yourself.0

This thread moves so quickly, by the time I've thought of a relevant reply the moment has passed!
Hugs to all those who need one, at lot of sadness at the moment.:(
Kittie - you have helped us in a way, we are going to sign our updated wills this a.m., something which we had been putting off. Thank you, even in your grief you are thinking about how you might be of some help to others.
My Gran used to truss me up in a liberty bodice. I prefer the term thermal camisole (hotter in more ways than one).
Daz - hope you get your Dad sorted. Has he had an OT assessment for aids for round the house or is he like my Dad who denies the need for anything but his walking stick :rotfl:.
I'm very glad we paid off our small credit card debt before I became unable to work, we prepped for this time and that was one of the first things we did. Thanks again for all the thrifty advice which has helped us to cope. We still have our mortgage but that is manageable.
Everyone's situation is different so folk should just do what suits them and theirs.:)
I've just finished another course on Futurelearn about money management. It was very interesting but perhaps more suited to someone who actually has some :rotfl:
I think I am obsessed with smiley icons.

My mother bought me some liberty bodices in 1960 because I got so many colds and sore throats. When i went into hospital to have my tonsils out - as most of us seem to have done in those days - one of the nurses who was undressing me exclaimed "Whatever's this?"
"It's a liberty bodice!" replied the other. "Haven't you ever seen one before?"
"No! was the baffled answer.0 -
kittie, hope you're doing better after your horrible start to the morning.
You've reminded me of something - I don't know if my mum did the paperwork for sole ownership of the house after my dad died, way back in 2006. Hmm. I'm writing that down in my diary to check today. Thank you - what doveling said is true, you're still helping by writing on here, and I'm glad you're doing it for your own sake as well as ours.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Mrs LW, I do not wear a vest. It is a base layer!0

news, media work, hustle and bustle everywhere. We should at times take a breath and switch the media off, my son called it `going dark` and we turned our e mails off for 12 hours, helped a lot. There is something to be said about sharing, its nice to share and to help and anything I have ever done has been given back to me this week, in shovelfuls. What do they say `what goes around comes around` tis true
Going out is good, just the fresh air out of the house. I see the village hall, next village and have to drive, has an active scene. I am going to join fitness for the over 60s, maybe more classes later but that will do for starters. I forget myself when I am out, its nice
After next week, I will start batch cooking with meat from my very full freezer and I`ll package in trays for one, got to think ahead and be sensible. My old remoska will come in very handy for re-heating. I am not going back to a microwave, got rid of it 6 years ago
sourdough starter needs attention today, I need to prep it to make another enormous boule, which I freeze in slices. I love that bread, 2 half slices plus a bowl of berries, some nuts and yoghurt and I am in seventh heaven, this is my normal light tea. I soak the nuts for 24 hours and then dehydrate, gets rid of phytic acid
Why is reggae so uplifting? My reggae playlist changes my mindset and energy levels0
