Blimey, there isn't even room in my bra for a deep breath lol.....I always complain about the lack of pockets in ladies clothes....they think we don't need them because of our handbags no doubt...“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. I am still puzzling over the two articles, but can only come up with the conclusion that something is going to happen in that area of the world very soon and they are moving people out of the way. It's a bit too close for my comfort if the SHTF on the other side of Greece! It doesn't make me feel any better that they tested the Civilians danger alert sirens yesterday all over Greece and ours was so quiet the traffic drowned it out !
Wonder if it's got anything to do with the Persia war games due next month? hope it doesn't turn from just practice to real
I remember listening to siren practice in the 80's here in London, with signs that said Lewisham is a nuclear free zone! Yes the radiation knew to stop as soon as it hit the borough boundaries :rotfl:0 -
Hi to all on the forum
Weds night was my first night at amature radio club, sadly for me it wasnt an "operating night" where all the radio equipment would be up and running as this is what i do want to get into.
mostly this meeting was talking about batteries from cars that can power radios ( so quite interesting in a prepping sence ) and ariels ( sadly i dont have enough knowledge to grasp quite what they were talking about )
I am signed up to do the foundation Licence for am radio, so a good point to start , where i will get the correct information for operating correctly.
Slightly off topic, parts of Fife today were flooded badly, nothing excesive, but not nice driving wise
Keep up the good work Forum0 -
Well, I may have said it before but I found that Tesco's milk the litre one which is the fridge section and has added vitamins(approx 70p)still was ok 6-7 days after the date on the carton and was still ok after being opened and normally I would have probably thrown it out past a use by date on something dairy based.

I was thinking more of Syria flaring up to be honest...
OOhhh....the amateur radio has given me a good idea. I could make great use of CB radio out here in Greece. The house is on top of the mountain with a clear view and we have a very high roof where we could put the aerial...and could fit a mobile one in the car. Now that would be a great bit of prepping equipment! Off to discuss it with my OH as he is very inventive and has some great ideas.....in a dire emergency it would work from batteries and would be a lot more likely to work than the mobile phone signal here.
Just watching the floods in Wales and Scotland on the tv..hope my sister is okay...her house is on a hill but I suspect the place where she works is low down......“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. The first one was the strange news that Greece has been asked to evacuate its islands in the Eastern Aegean (near to Turkey ) that have fewer than 150 families on them. They have been asked by the Troika, the three groups who are here to set the measures needed to get the bailout. Apparently its to save money...but I am not sure how that would work as the people there own the property and support themselves.
The second piece of news, which came at the same time but from a different source told us that Crete and Rhodes are going to receive 20,000 refugees from Syria. At a time when Greece has no money to pay for health care, pensions, or books and heating for the schools this is surprising news to say the least...where will they put them all? who will care for them and feed them all ? What about the tourists who will be put off coming?
That is very odd indeed, and more than a little disturbing. Who stands to benefit ?Start info Dec11

I still see us heading down the Greek, Spain, Italy, Portugal scenario...more charities having to/trying to do more in the UK(when we already have Save the Children, food banks etc here already who are trying to help)
The Red Cross and their appeal in Spain...
Now we have the energy and food prices going up...What next?
I find it strange or is it being done to try and play down the problem the EU is facing and say its doing well, awarding it the Nobel Peace prize...that I don't understand."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Pops, I saw this on the news today ...
http://www.t3.com/news/amazon-launches-kindle-lending-library
The service will be called the Amazon Kindle Lending Library and, unlike a traditional library, will actually cost you a membership fee. You'll need to pay for Amazon Prime membership at £49 a year... and buy a Kindle, naturally.
I expect that the price will come down a bit as time goes on ...C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z # 40 spanner supervisor. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.Only after the last tree has been cut down. Thanks for the good wishes, we are ok here.
A walk around the site showed the beck was ten feet wide in places. Luckily it had overflowed on the far side onto the pasture field or it would have been higher still. We checked on the only other caravaner who who was here, and she was fine, oddly her van is very close to the far side of the beck and would have been flooded if it had overflowed on the near side, she and her four dogs had heard the rain but were oblivious to levels of the water.
Half a dozen caravan awnings were filled with water but the site entrance was ok. There is a trench there at the moment because they are building a new stone wall, and all the water went into the trench thank goodness. The wind was blowing a hoolie and that means the site dries up very quickly so we knew that by the time we came back the ground would be a lot drier.
We loaded the car with wellies and sticks anyway and bu88ered off. Site very much drier this afternoon but the beck is higher than this morning, the Wear is in full spate but if it stays dry tonight they will both settle down again.
Caterina:- We do like the fact that we have more time just for us, but after over thirty years of marriage romance is more a 'togetherness' for us. We now end each others sentences, or understand each other perfectly when we stop talking mid sentence. It's when we think of the same thing at the same time that we find really funny. :rotfl:
Noo:- my brothers neighbour used to keep her false teeth in her bra! She would pop them back in just before she answered the front door. Completely oblivious to the fact the door was all glass and her visitors could see her dipping her hand into her bra and then up to her mouth!!! :rotfl:
GQ:-We have a 25ft touring van which we leave on a seasonal pitch for 8 months of the year. We have gone from pup tents to frame tents, trailer tents, touring caravans, static vans and back to a tourer again. We like a bolt hole! IYKWIM:DGive us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0
