I'm the idiot who suggested using protective gloves in the first place but in context of receiving post or goods delivered if there were a bio hazard like ebola or flu pandemic loose in the country and I don't recall ever having suggested that latex gloves would stop you catching the ebola virus. I found your post yesterday offensive Lavandula Rosemary, I don't normally bother reading your posts as I've had experience of them on other threads and this one was only par for the course. You are however entitled to your own opinion and at liberty to post as you see fit. We would be better to get back to Prepping and all things related as this is the purpose of this particular thread and we seem to have been running along amicably enough up until now. Business as normal please!!!0

Hello Mar, hope you are well. I have memories of my late Mum, washing my mouth out with a bar of Lifebuoy soap, when I was a child, who had picked up and repeated, a swear word off of another child at school. It was a truly horrible and terrifying experience, I can tell you.Felines are my favourite

I think any type of protection is better than nothing.. disposible gloves CAN be used for other things too.. so yes I think 'glovegate' should be left on the shelf until further notice.. what does carbolic soap smell like?? would it remind me of the smell of my grans house lol, but then on saying that she allways used to use camay and lifeboy soap I think lolWork to live= not live to work0

It's household cleaning soap CTC and it is the smell of schools and kitchens from your tiniest years. It's a hard solid bar of soap, if I recall correctly it's yellow? and it smells of 'clean'!!!0

Coal tar soap is a medicated soap for people and good for your skin and carbolic soap is general household so used for washing floors, woodwork etc. I think it's quite hard on your hands. There's also good old Fairy Household soap which is bright green and has to be grated or scraped with an old knife into hot water and that's used for washing clothes as well as floors etc. Carbolic is disinfecting too so much beloved of the Victorian/Edwardian housewife as part of the ongoing fight against disease in an age of less medical knowledge than we have available to us today.0

I've never had a problem using soap on my face and I love the smell of the Coal Tar Soaps. Wrights is a good brand too but give the packet a judicious sniff before you buy one, it's quite strong and the perfume lasts rather well on your skin. If you can find it/afford it the loveliest smell is from Pears Soap which is translucent brown and gentle on skins but I feel not so easy to find these days. Love the stuff!!!0
