A bar. Not twelve :D I could have googled amazon too, but thank you for taking the time to do that. £12.99 plus free delivery is a good price I think but I would like to test it out first.

I was looking for a source that I could pick up locally without incurring postage costs for just a trial bar.

Honestly? I don't think your comment was brusque at all yesterday. I think it was damn right rude and condescending Lavendula Rosemary. We are all entitled to express an opinion, some of us just choose to go about it in other ways. ;)

Coping without antibiotics and fancy medical tech were all dealt with quite adequately.

I have copies of my grandfather's and great grandfather's diaries. My grandfather was a GP and he certainly struggled to treat some pretty basic diseases with the technology available to him before/during/after WW2. My brother still has some of his instruments and they look more suited for medieval torture.

My great-grandfather was at Gallipoli, and how anyone managed to fight given the number of deaths from D&V seems pretty amazing.

I certainly don't want to go back to a pre-antibiotic age, although sadly it looks as though we're heading there.

I'd prefer not to manage without much of the other technology either, as, like GQ and many others here, I'd already be dead if it didn't exist.

Bear in mind that even what are now seem as easily treatable conditions such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy were a death sentence. And you may find that if you develop arthritis or a heart condition you change your mind about the irrelevance of improvements in medical technology.

That was uncalled for. The OP has apologised, and provided a link in what is probably an attempt to show contrition.

Accepting apologies gracefully, particularly on a forum where written discussion can be misconstrued is a simple courtesy.

Simply expressing my view greenbee just like you have done with me ;):) A lot of people were annoyed, if not upset about the expressive nature of that comment yesterday. The poster in question has been even more brusque on a different OS thread this morning by calling a poster a 'nut job' and 'a sad lonely liar/troll'.

along with plenty of other posters. Please read the whole thread (can I retire at 26?) and you will realize why. It's very funny. The problem is getting sarcasm/humour across in text can be tricky and misinterpreted..
