hiya 2T I have a thyroid and pituitary gland problem and didnt realise these could affect - what's your thoughts on soya? and for anyone interested this is on topic as it affects my stores!
Hi, sorry I didn't answer your question earlier, I have just been catching up on all the reading...my, you lot type fast lol
Soya is also a goitregen, it can affect the thyroid in an adverse way so should be avoided. It actually sets off my celiac disease as well so I have never been very good with it.Quite a few of my friends on the Celiac site have the same problem with it.

Soya also mimics estrogen in the body so anyone with problems related to too much estrogen in the body should not use it. It is to blame for many men having too much estrogen in the body. It does not have to be taken directly, it is added to about 70 percent of supermarket products as a filler....for instance to some chocolate, sauces and even pies.
I would recommend Quinoa as a grain for stores , it has very good levels of protein in it and it is very quick to cook..much quicker than soya is. Instead of soya milk then I would recommend almond or rice milk if you can't tolerate ordinary milk. Personally I love coconut milk, its easy to store and makes the worlds best korma sauce you have ever tasted. I put it in hm rice puddings and use it as a sauce. If you whisk it with a little honey or sugar it can be thickened like double cream. The little boxes are cheap and go a long way in storage. It is very nutritious and has fats that are good for you.
If you look up 'goitregens' on the search it will tell you what veg to avoid (like spinach)...you can have small amounts, just not huge amounts of raw stuff and not in shakes like all the health gurus tell you to do. Hope this helps, I can find some links to the info if you would like to read them for yourself.
Personally I am trying to find the healthiest stores for my health conditions ( such as gluten free pasta etc ) and things that are easy to cook, if they need cooking at all.:)“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. A question borne out of curiosity, please.
When discussing different shops, etc, why do people miss out some of the words and add stars, or such like, in their place?
Is there some rule where you shouldn't say Asda, or Tesco, or Amazo. and so on.
This has always puzzled me and I am genuinely interested in why the letters are blanked out with ***

Right time to catch up since I have been missing in action...I did have the cough virus/lurgy that is going round but I have been busy working on Greek underground news sites and doing something useful besides looking after my OH. He still has a chest infection from the lurgy and if he is no better tomorrow he is going back to the doctors. The virus is spreading like crazy here and its really laying people low for weeks. I was lucky to recover in just four days...for someone who is supposed to have a poor immune system that is very good going.
It has actually been a bone of contention between me and the doctor..he says its a poor immune system....I say its a hyperactive immune system because my allergies kick in very quickly if something is wrong....its hyperactive not underactive. No doubt he will seem surprised that I recovered so fast lol
Still prepping and have a good amount of emergency supplies and food in stock. I went to Lidl today to restock on fresh fruit and realised they have made a few changes to their stocks. They used to have offers (usually clothes and tools) twice a week, but now they have started doing special food offers between Monday and Thursday. Since I shop on Friday I had been missing out on them and didn't realise it.
They are knocking the prices in many cases down one euro or down to just one euro per item. Today for instance I got tins of mackerel for one euro and one kilo of long grain rice for 1 euro each. I got 30 percent off mozarella cheese and fresh chicken that were in the close to sell by section. So I have decided to change my shopping day to Mondays so I can get in at the beginning of the offers for each week.
Still not had an electric cut yet, but things are coming to a crunch soon. The management found out that some politicians and big businesses had managed to get the company to change their tax bill which came on the electric bills last year when everyone else was paying it in full....there was a huge row, the management invaded the offices and they all got arrested. So its just a matter of time before they all start action to support the management on spilling the beans about it....
Very quiet here, it feels like we are going to get some storms tonight. The demonstrations in Athens are on the news but we are eight hours drive away, or a one hour flight so not affected in any way. I can't blame the ordinary people for demonstrating as they are desperate, no wages, no health care, and there will be no food for many this winter.
There will be hooligans there of course, there always is an element of anarchists. But they are not the important ones. The ordinary people are.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -

Tonsils that's shocking re Germany making such a huge profit and as always the poor sods at the bottom of the pile are the workers . What would happen if Greece had said "stuff your euros and your community" and gone back to drachmas?0

Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.0 -
HI all
I am a very excited button (much to the amusement of my OH) as my dehydrator arrived today:T.
Luckily he is totally on board despite teasing me a bit.
In fact I was a bit worried the other night when he was watching the Kevin Mcleod programme about methane production and cookers, as he was extremely excited (I have a feeling his next project is going to be a composting Loo:rotfl:).
Oh well at least it would reduce our outgoings but I definately want to be there when he tells his sister to Poo outside so he can fuel his welder:D.
D&DD Mum is absolutely grand, so kind of you to remember.
I feel like im starting to sound like a cartoon character saying "we are doomed, doomed" but I don't like what is going on in this country or Europe one bit. Makes me more determined to be a bit more organised each week.
Hugs to our poorly's and poorly partners.
Happy prepping peeps, WLL xMoving towards a life that is more relaxed and kinder to the environment (embracing my inner hippy:D) .:j0 -
Please can I be a member of C.R.A.P R.O.L.L.Z?
Thing is I don't do anything interesting, know very little about preparing and I'm scared of zombies/snow/Co-op running out of milk  :rotfl: No, kidding. I prepare to a certain extent but still learning. Care to take me under your wing at all? A fledgling member?
WLL my DH also got very animated about cooking on poo. His brain cells were ticking over big time. I heard him mutter at one point 'We'd get a bag a week from the dog'.0 -
lol if I go any faster I'll melt..0
