I was reading today about that bloke with the hook's wife and the fact that her council is from 2013 only issueing short term tenancies, then read my local paper online and apparently my council is using the same new local law to keep lifetime tenancies in our Borough..I still can't decide wether its a good or bad thing as I can see it from both sides. It will cause problems though as our Housing Association has already said no more lifetime tenancies here from 2013 so the Borough will have different rules depending who your social landlords are..mmm

Pops is that for this country the RedCross appeal?

Have any of you thought about wind power?

One resource we are definitely blessed with in the UK

And the hot air generated from the house of westminster would keep London going for a year

    Sorry about that error D&DD,
    This is happening in Spain.

As for us I knew the feel good factor and how the Olympics was used was temporary and he's bringing it up again tomorrow in the speech he's giving and he's also going to go on about how our attitudes have changed towards the disabled because of the Paralymics.

Sleet as I type and 2cm of snow forecast for the morning. I have my ice-scraper, tartan blanket and chocolate in the car.

Not looking forward to the morning drive. We have snow roughly five months of the year and every year it's the same. First snowfall and half the town forgets how to drive in in! Must remember to look out for the out of province cars.

I would be a bit worried if he wanted to take my temperature :rotfl:

When we say how cold it is, and there's me diving under the duvet in brushed cotton PJ's and thermal socks tp be warm compared to yourself we're not doing that bad so far...safe journey when you do venture out...Hope you are managing to stay warm.

I think I'd want them to use a new thermometer though...
  • Morning all, bit of a rough night as He who knows off being useful to DD1 and lurcher took the opportunity to eat something vile and was sick most of the night, so we're both a little frayed round the edges. He's fine now after having slept on the bed beside me snoring softly for a couple of hours.

ALLISON - I love the idea of putty cat hot water bottles, the thought of that has definately made me more cheered this morning, thank you!

Tea will make all better, so off for more tea, catch you later, Cheers Lyn x.

wowee - in three weeks we've got 40 members (plus me) all of whom(except me) have amazing skills - between us we are ready for anything I reckon.

I hope no one minds but I've added a note to the first post:

IMPORTANT NOTE: this thread is a resource for those who want to prepare in an old style way for a variety of scenarios - anything from c0-0p running out of milk to a full scale breakdown in society as we know it - if you don't think you can cope with this sort of discussion please don't read any further! it is not meant to alarm or ridicule, just allow open discussion in a frank but sometimes lighthearted way - that said, all constructive view points are welcome so please join in!

I hope it's worded ok - if anyone thinks I need to remove or edit please advise, I dont want to put anyone off joining in but likewise I think with some of the comments we've had it's only fair to make it clear what lays within incase they think we are talking about zumba or something random. It still amazes me that a thread with the title it has brings the comments it has but hey ho!

have a good day everyone - thanks for the well wishes - it's nothing major in my world just general stresses (mainly the day job) but these too will pass

oh! and who's heard / seen / read any BBC news today? they are confirming food price rises - has mardatha said the other day - PREP HARDER!!!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19893873 but also smarter! remember - buy what you use and use what you buy x
