I have also seen people bury old lockers in the ground, door upwards, Then pile brash over the top and earth up. mark with stakes to stop people walking on top and make it easy to find in snow.

Guess what - perfect, although you probably do not even need to bury it is you can stash it in an outbuilding.
Chedck out Bob Flowerdew - one of his books covers old fridges as root cellars.
Just do not mix fruit with veggies. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Well I tell you one thing if we ever ran out of fuel I've enough paperwork/books/magazines to supply the south of england I'm still wading my way through the mess
Looking a lot better though as I'm trying to be ruthless as it means more space for preps!
Discovered a bag of cheapy facemasks I forgot I'd bought for EDC bags so have distributed them and double wrapped the box of N95 ones to keep them fresh.I've packaged these in the box with gloves, extra hand gels, disposable aprons, duct tape and door covers..like a mini pandemic kit and any suggestions are welcome as I have a bit of space still in the box..
so we are getting there albeit slowly!

oh PS for all our superhardy scottish contingent! Watched Man,woman, wild last night in scotland and he said it was one of the harshest environments he had ever been in so there you go even Mike thinks you're hard!0 -

Ali I'm still scratching after reading that lol your poor OH just shows how bad they are.. I'm glad I have a shorthaired dog but she's had 2 this year even the spaniel owners I know are not impressed as theirs have been covered especially in their ears *changes subject and shudders*
Nuatha hope your OH is improving today
Noo lol any suggestions on colour?? The duct tape is black..
Grandma thanks I never knew that about vets and we have lovely ladies at ours very handy tip
I've had enough tidying for one day my son's gelert folding shovel arrived today so have to pop that in his boot with his other bits for the winter.
I ordered a few of these last night should be here tomorrow so will give a review when they arrive.I bought them more for the pouch than the contents as I have plenty of first aid supplies but needed a better pouch thing for the gobags and at £3 they were hopefully a steal..

A vet may not be allowed to treat humans but my father saw the vet more often than his GP! It was his vet that told him to get a chest xray STAT because he didn't like his cough. Turned out he was right (and my Dad listened to the vet more than us nagging woman folk). Dad had lung cancer. Dad later told us that he liked the dog's doctor more than he liked his GP!
And for what it's worth, if the worst comes to the worst, I'd sooner trust our Vet over some of the residents I work with. What's the worst that can happen, I get told I have a shiny coat and a scratch behind the ears.0 -
