But money can't buy you happiness, Bob, according to all the gurus and stuff. Which just goes to show they should get out more..........
But it's good for the purchase of the DevilFood (ch*c*l*te) and that's a close to happiness as I can get.
Actually, since I've just stuffed myself with raspberries reduced to 49p per 500g, I'm as happy as a pig in the proverbial. Nomnomnom.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

What is it? Is that a Russian medal in case they invade, so that you can prove you're really a Russian general? (In which case, good plan! Where can I get one?)0

Actually, it is the Chernobyl Medal.
It was awarded to the "Liquidators" (all 800,000 or so), who worked on the clean up, after the reactor explosion.0 -
Wow I've just got 48 boxed small kilner jars for £35 on my local Facebook site. I guess I have some serious prepping to do ...0

i am back
i have been reading and want to thank you all for your good wishes x
it is still painful to use my left hand so i can't type well, it takes ages with one hand and forgive me for not using capitals. it really is surprising how much you use your left hand and don't realise it.
did a stupid thing yesterday , i tried to steady myself and used my left hand  forsooth and other profanities:eek: i won't be doing that anytime soon.
can't use crutches either so i am wheelchair bound for at least 2 weeks until the stitches come out
they were great at the hospital and i was wheeled around everywhere and had a laugh and joke with everyone in the operating theatre, the local anaesthetic injection was horrid but after that i felt nothing until he hit a nerve  it was like an electric shock all the way up my arm. then into recovery for half an hour and then back to the ward where they insisted that i had a sarnie and a coffee
i was home by 12.30pm and have been in a sling up until now but i still have to keep my arm raised as long as possible with it resting on lots of cushions during the day and at night when i am sleeping.
i have to go back to see the consultant in 6 weeks.
xxBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Just occured to me on the subject of Chernobyl:
Looking at a map, it seems to be roughly on the border of the bit that wants to stay Ukrainian, and the bit that wants to be Russian.
I wonder if that is why Russia is being a little reticent about invading. Surely Russia wouldn't want to acquire that particular piece of real estate?0 -

Ukraine was part of the USSR (as was) when Chernobyl happened on 26.04.1986. USSR ended officially on 26.12.1991 .Ukraine's border's have been highly mobile in the past several generations; the bit now Western Ukraine was annexed from Poland and the Crimea was Russian until 1954.
It's a large and fertile country in a stategic position, the irradiated bit notwithstanding.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Butterfly Brain, here's wishing you calm & comfort to recuperate in, at your own pace.
I'm back too, from the wilds of WonderWool Wales, where I spent far too much money on fluff & glitter. So many ideas, so much inspiration - I couldn't sleep because when I shut my eyes all these images of wonderful colours & textures kept flittering across the backs of my eyelids! In one sense it's total indulgence, but in another, it's not; it helps to keep our own native sheep breeds & local fibre producers going, plus all those creative ideas do have some genuinely serious applications and keep the sparks of creativity & inventiveness burning.
Anyway, lots of tidying to do - the troops managed to cope without me, but the mess is surreal & the washing mountain horrendous - before going down to tidy & restock my stall, then get some of my plant-babies planted out.Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
