I've been reading several reports regarding a vulnerability in Windows XP. The actual problem is with Internet Explorer versions 6 -11. It is highly unlikely that Microsoft will update the earlier versions of the browser and since Version 9 the more recent versions don't run on XP. The easy way to avoid being affected is to use a different browser, for example Chrome or Firefox.

There was a minister who was defending this saying that they were problably trying to use it to market more services to us. If they knew we are millionaires they might try and flog us more crap like PIP or interest rate swaps.
Anyway I have been looking at changing my bank anyway. So far I think I will switch to Metro Bank so will take a day trip into London to open an account once I am debt free.I'll have you know that I am a multi-millionaress. OK, it's a hyperinflated and out-of-date Zimbabwean bank note, but still it sez Five Hundred Million Dollars.

HTHI can honestly say ditching IE8 and moving to Firefox was one of the best webby things I have done. So much better. IE8 was hanging all the time on newspaper websites and irritating the heck out of me.
jk0, liking the new wheels. And no road fund, hey? What's the mpg on one of those babies, anyway?
Glad that the preptastic are continuing to distrust the banking system; shows sound good sense. I found that banks are very easy to put money into but getting it out again is, as pineapple so aptly puts it, like pulling teeth. I was asked when pulling money out of the Co Op t'other year what I wanted it for, but in a casual sort of way.
I smiled evilly at the young male clerk who asked (young enough to be my son, if I was the parental type) and told him I was going to spend it on slow horses and fast boys. It's so sweet when they blush all the way up to their ears, isn't it? :rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Basically the fight is going on and they are allowed to take it back to the high court again.
The Mayor should be ashamed of herself.

I think a bicycle is also a great alternative. I really should look into getting a bike again. Also once you have bought one very frugal to use. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

Probably not a lot.
On that subject, I have been making consious efforts to save fuel lately, and it seems to be paying off:
I have memorised the traffic light sequences of my regular route, and switch the engine off if there is more than one lot of traffic to go before my road goes green.
I keep an eye on the pedestrian crossing I will be going through. When this goes to red, I know to start up the engine again.0 -
