    :D Green, naturellement.

If they weren't green, they would be conspicious against the kale leaves and their natural predators would pick them off easily (that means you, Mardywotsit.) :p

I had a minor LBM moment this afternoon when cruising the YS bargains and seeing a cellophane pkt of thyme for 5p. Which I bought and have some draped over a slow-roasting joint in t'oven as we speak.

I often see various herbs like this for 5p. Mixed dried herbs are silly for what they are and I haven't yet got the allotment sorted for herbery. So I have the remainder of the thyme drying slowly on an oven mesh thingummy wotsit from £land the other year.

Dry, crumble, make a pot of mixed herbs to chuck in soup - sorted. Can't believe I only just thought of this.:rotfl:

My local SM has 'growing' herbs in pots, frequently reduced. I have a lovely selection in a recycled container on my windowsill, all cost just a few pence.

The parsley is well heading for addition to a good sauce as it has grown big enough to interfere with my washing up doingziz.

There was a minister who was defending this saying that they were problably trying to use it to market more services to us. If they knew we are millionaires they might try and flog us more crap like PIP or interest rate swaps.

Anyway I have been looking at changing my bank anyway. So far I think I will switch to Metro Bank so will take a day trip into London to open an account once I am debt free.

That was part of the problem though Mar, they were denied access to their accounts. That kind of thing causes ban k r u n s in other institutions before they start that kind of shenanigans.

I mean, please what is going on ? That is some messed up scary stuff right there that is.

At the moment a risk of a bank run is quite low but there are certain banks that could be very vulnerable. Barclays if they suffer a big loss in the derivatives market as they are one of the worlds biggest derivatives traders. HSBC if there is a banking crisis in China and funds are repatriated to bail out there Hong Kong and Chinese branches. RBS if there is a multi billion settlement for their dealings against small businesses, plus they still have tens of billions at risk in Ireland, which may be at risk if Ireland needs another bailout. As i am not rich enough to worry about bail ins it is all more of an academic interest to me. Though for some people I know they might actually be hit by the bail-ins. Some banks are so leveraged that the government might struggle to bail out depositors and so they might cut the limits covered substantially but not until there is a bank holiday like in Cyprus and they simply raid everyones accounts. If that were to happen if people were to have even only £50000 in their bank they might get hit with losses.

Personally I am concentrating on clearing my debts so I am not in a position of them demanding immediate repayments, which would be a struggle for everyone. After that I will be doing very similar to Grey Queen and investing any and all surplus funds into prepping. At least they will save me money longer term if nothing happens and mean I am well prepared if the SHTF. So I am watching loads of Youtube videos on the subject and researching all the things that I think I should allow for. Some are off the wall crazy but there are some interesting general tips that are well worth adopting. The fun is skipping past all the gun reviews and other weapon reviews.

Would have closed it entirely last time round except that I was told I would have to go to Customer Services first then start queuing all over again

Just empty it completely, then leave it empty.

    That is crazy bank behaviour.

I've been a-visiting the pensions board trying to figure out what to do about my future pension plans. It seems most of the experts on that board don't share our distrust of pensions and governments who might want to get their hands on them. So I'm not much further along in my quest at the moment but I did discover that my pension provider - Virgin - is about the worst, so whatever I'm going to do I'd better transfer from them.

See, this is another aspect of prepping. The mindset, the ability to move fast and think sideways. All the preps in the world won't help us if we hesitate that one minute too long. Look at all the poor people who stayed that minute too long in nazi Germany.
