    No, it's not a moped.

It's an Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle.

Hate to be pedantic, but actually it is an electric moped, which falls within the EPAC regulations. See importer's site here.

There is no legal requirement to wear a motorcycle helmet while riding one, but I bet you soon get fed up of being stopped by the Old Bill (if they still have coppers round your way) who thinks there is :D

  • It's been a funny sort of day here, lots of quite heavy showers that have come on very suddenly so other than walking the hound I've been stuck indoors and done lots of jobs and made jam and run out of things that needed to be done. I've made the discovery that I've read ALL the books I own, in most cases many times, and am feeling the need for new material. This after one afternoon of indoorsness!!! I got to thinking that if I was stuck indoors for any period of time due to something unforseen be it weather wise, situation wise, problem wise or any other reason it would be a very useful thing to have some books salted away upstairs in the storeroom that I hadn't actually read to keep me occupied during a problematic time. I'm going to start picking up books that appeal and stash them away not to be read right away so I always have something new to hand in times of need. CS and boot fair buys will most likely be cheapest and it can be an ongoing project for the forseeable future to keep in mind whenever I'm in town too, Lyn xxx.

Actually, it's an Electric Tandem Bike.

If it were a Moped, it would require registration, a Driving Licence, 3rd Party Insurance, VED, and a helmet, because it would be a Motorcycle.

ETA: Does the girl come with it? :)

I could also understand why they would regard the amount of cover as sensitive - after all, it would be giving competitors useful information about who to headhunt
Yes but the freedom of information request was about collecting insurance on dead people I thought. Who head-hunts dead people?
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

Welcome ivyleaf, always nice when lurkers contribute. I'm interested in your comment, there is always a lot of smoke and noise around any political discussion of climate change, I honestly don't know what to make of it. Do you have any specialist knowledge here to inform your opinion?

Thank you PP - No, no specialist knowledge as such, but surely there has always been climate change, e.g. the Ice Age and the "Little Ice Age". And apparently there used to be plenty of vineyards here in Roman times - sorry not to be more specific. And we had the "Medieval Warm Period".

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that the climate has changed in the past and that was nothing to do with carbon emissions, so although I don't disagree that some of the current climate changes could be due to emissions, I don't think there's nearly as much that can be done about it as some parties say there is. That's only my opinion as a lay person.

I hope that makes some sort of sense -sorry, I don't have a good memory these days , more a forgettery :)

I want to say, too, that thanks to you lot I've built up a small store cupboard - we aren't well enough to either "bug out" or spend days/weeks holed up, but I wanted to have a supply for short-term emergencies.

And a couple of weeks ago we had a very minor SHTF moment when neither of us was well enough to cook a meal, and I remembered we had some canned beef casserole in the cupboard so we had some of that, with some extra seasoning added. And bread to dunk :D

Such a shame that I didn't realise until later that there were 2 slightly-out-of-date cans behind the ones I used :o but we'll use those next time, honest.

    So thank you, everyone :)

P.S. Brilliant idea about the books, Mrs LW - some silica gel would be useful for making sure they stay dry, if you can get some.

I wouldn't worry about dates on canned foods.

They'll still be edible, years after the so called expiry date.

If you run out of things to do, there's a whole houseful of dust here that needs dealing with (before the next round of dust-making) :D And as for books, I've got a few in my CS pile which I'll dig out for you and you can have them as an emergency stash... if you get really bored, I have a copy of the Domesday book somewhere ...
  • Too kind my dear!!! but I'm just sad enough to contemplate taking you up on the offer if I get desparate!!!!! I quite like housework, I know I'm soooooo SAD!!!
