My favourite quote from that article "If you can trust your family, take them, but perhaps make a contingency plan for which one you'll all eat first, and discuss it in secret with the others. (You might also make another plan about who'll be eaten second, and discuss this with whoever's left. If no one discusses eating anyone with you, distrust them all.) If your family includes any young children you are not prepared to eat then your chances of success are more or less zero, but you're probably accustomed to that feeling."

Tsssk never mind the grammar. When I am Grand Dictator I will issue orders to shoot on sight anyone who spells the noun licence as license. I will also abolish the term cupcake and other abominable Americanisms.
I suppose while I'm at it I might as well get rid of some of my more irritating neighbours. Starting with next door but one

Don't forget the word "movie" being used instead of "film".

Survive A Catastrophe In Suburbia Without Firearms (Kindle Edition)

by William West (can't post links)

don't know if it's any good though.
Nice to have a new poster join us guineapiglet but I struggled to get through that with the glaring typos and original use of language. Also, a book about survival without firearms shouldn't really contain a recommendation to get a .22 rifle and a shotgun :rotfl:
Still, it was free I suppose!
That Guardian article had a few useful links embedded, as well as some missing links posting in the comments section...

The Sensibillians have decreed....(copyright G.C) everyone should have a copy of "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" apparently this is grammar bible heaven .....found the benefits street on channel 4 tonight bemusing arguing over such a small sliver of the pie chart.......on the other end of the scale the UN report on the atrocities/difficulties of living in north korea is horrific
  • Oi I'm a Grammar now you lot and the only matter of life or death in this household is whether or not you survive the cooking!!! and I don't mean the cooking of you either!!!

Hello GUINEAPIGLET nice to have you aboard, we're all a little (well a lot in most cases) alternative and just slightly crazy but it's always a lot of fun and ALWAYS useful on this thread, nice to have a new friend! Lyn xxx.

:p I'll bring the peanuts to protect our salt levels. The only question left is shall I take my microfibre travel towel or go traditional with terry cloth?
