It is the most appalling pact ever. It completely surrenders sovereignty to corporations, who will then be unaccountable. It was written by the corporation lobbyists so will be perfect for their clients. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

There goes the (admittedly lower than I'd like) controls on genetically modified food. The introduction of software patents, so far not really implemented in the EU as copyright is deemed to offer sufficient protection.
I suspect the biggest issue would be reducing standards to a lowest common denominator rather than attempting to harmonise standards upwards - though that is purely speculation on my part.
And if the UK votes to leave the EU then our access to first world markets will be right up the creek.
I can see whereFrugalsod is coming from, but most trade treaties since the '70s have included clauses for some form of “investor-state dispute settlement” mechanism and these rarely seem to lead to corporations getting laws over turned or re-written (the standard lobbying process is obviously effective enough).
I'd have more concerns if I was in Canada or if the UK votes to leave the EU, the situation reminds me of what happened to Commonwealth economies when the UK joined the EU.0 -
Well, it seems we're screwed whatever happens.

Unfunny time; another banker has leapt to his death, the 3rd one from JP Morgan alone.http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-02-18/third-jpmorgan-banker-jumps-his-death-hong-kong-said-be-33-year-old-fx-trad
