  • IBCs are an excellent idea Butterfly Brain, provided you have somewhere sheltered (and heated) in which to store them.

:Plus you can do fun things (like archery :p) and tell yourself it might have a preptastic function some time. Meanwhile, it's a fun thing to do.

Love this! What an awesome idea, am going to book archery now x

Hi everyone, and nice to meet you GreenLady - nice to hear from Ginny too - wondered where you were!
Its absolutely wild here again - would love snow Mar but too mild here still. We need a really cold snap to kill the bugs, otherwise the midgies will be hellish come spring.
Back to work for me tomorrow unfortunately - I always find it difficult to go back after a break, but i'm sure by 4.30 tomorrow it will be as if I haven't been away.
Mar are you still making soap??

Hello All and welcome to the looney, foil hatter thread Green Lady! If others think you are odd, slightly strange or batty you will feel right at home here!
Guess what the drought has broken again!! in Wales! Had a dryish morning but downhill from then. I've spent the day de-christmassing and tidying up, prior to starting lists and stock take to support my prepping new year resolutions. There seems to be candles everywhere, preps hidden in full view. Green Lady I have to stealth prep as my OH thinks I have lost the plot!

BoB I too carry a "ready made" survival tin but the Kindle book was about one that described a small HM tin, one that would fit in a pocket, ideal if you lost your bag and /or needed one tailored to your day to day areas and situations. It had some good ideas plus reinforcing the ones you probably know!

Had to MOT car yesterday so had a quick tidy!, really surprised what I carried and had "forgotten" about. I had prepped water carriers, tyre inflator, Get Home bag, lots of different footwear depending on weather conditions, space blankets, torches, multi tools, chocolate x10!, maps, waterproof ponchos x4, books, blankets, foil backed picnic blanket, spare tow rope, jump leads, spare headcollar and lead rope, pens, papers, first aid kit, silly (warm) hats and gloves, matches more chocolate, colouring books, pencils and books for kids, money, spare change, de-icers and scrapers to name a few things!! LOL
BoB on reflection I would probably hunker down and stay put in the car if I were unable to get home in a weather related SHTF situation although I would head for home in any major SHTF as I would need to get to my kids and bug in at home. In a weather situation I would stay put and await rescue by my OH in one of our off road modes of transport. In a situation that was due to other idiots on the road in the past, in snow, I have been known to off road my car along pavements and the wrong side of the road to avoid skidding drivers or those attached to hedges/other cars! I managed to get home last time when there were abandoned cars everywhere. One hill I reversed up as it was the only way to get up it.
Anyway going to head out into the monsoon, Oh the joys of living on a farm and having to feed animals what ever the weather!!

    Elaine

I bet someone's shared this before. However, the one about using a certain food product as kindling appears to be useful in this inclement weather.

My BCB one fits (and indeed lives) in my coat pocket.

Just bought a tray of Bubble and Squeak from ASDA.

The instructions say "Do not reheat"

I believe American standard baths are only 5' long aren't they? Can any Americans confirm? Wouldn't the thing collapse in a longer bath?
