  • Looks like it's going to be a cold one tonight.

I just let buggalugs in, and it's already below 0c.

A clear, cloudless sky doesn't help.

We went to see, the hobbit on my birthday, enjoyed it but nothing like the
    book.

If you go on tesco boost, you can use clubcard points for cineworld tickets. Its 250 points per ticket. Thats what we used to see the hobbit.

Prepping wise im slowly building our stores.
If I can find the link my partner bought three torches and they really good and bright...he uses then to go caving and potholing. So they have to be super bright and robust.

The indicator on my friend's Audi is playing up, so I tried to find an instructional video to show him how to fix it. I came across this little lad who repairs the car for his Dad:

  • Hi there, I've just found this thread and I am going to work my way through it in the next few days! There are a lot of pages. It's nice to read that there are other 'mad' people out there. Last year my Christmas presents were a home survival kit and a car survival kit full of space blankets, wind up radios and torches, waterproof matches etc etc etc. Everyone who knows about this leaning to "survival" that I have think I am a complete loon. But as you say, lots of them think I am preparing for the zombie invasion. Can't wait to see what other suggestions all you guys have. And all those links on the first page have me a little over excited. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

  • Hello GREEN LADY welcome to the thread, it's such a lovely feeling to know there are other people who have the same agenda and drive as yourself isn't it? We all know how the non preppers of this world regard us and most of us have gotten to the point where we don't really care what other people think of us but it is nice to find like minded souls who don't regard you as lunatic fringe isn't it? Glad to have you aboard, Lyn .

:hello: Hello and welcome, Green Lady, lovely to have you aboard.

I think we've all heard the you're mad talk, or seen the eyes roll from those who think that any form of prepping is definately tin hat territory. Strange how lots of people can only imagine prepping as dealing with ficticious critters like zombies, or being confronted with events so unbelievably catastrophic as to render any preparations an exercise in futility.

There is a middle way, for those everyday hiccups, and additional crises like ill-health and unemployment. Plus you can do fun things (like archery :p) and tell yourself it might have a preptastic function some time. Meanwhile, it's a fun thing to do.

Rolled out of my bed rather later than normal and am limbering up to go to the allotment later today. At this time of year, I like to go circa midday when it's warmest and will have dried out a bit. I shall be moving strawberry plants (prepping for June's feast) and potting on some for friends (building community, sharing the goodness) and then dropping in to a supermarket to add a couple of things to the stores on top of some regular grocery shopping.

Have used Clubcard Boost (I share the use of Mum's card, they must get totally garbage data from that) to turn into clothing vouchers which we spent on jeans for the kid bruv, and picked up some points to get money off fuel, so they will fill up their car and use those. I myself have a £1 of £8 spend voucher for £land from when I bought my onions sets last week, so will be sure to use that to add something free to the preps.

All is well here and it isn't actually raining atm, which is remarkable. I can just about see blue sky above the car park......ssshhh, mustn't frighten it away.

Hope everyone has a good day and that the weather isn't too rough where you live. GQ xx

Pure white hard frost here and a yellow light in the sky - is this a UFO? Should I get the BOB and hit the hills running?
.... maybe wait a bit. It's bound to go away soon :D
Handed over £90 to the coalman on Fri and the coalhouse still isn't full. It must cost the equivalent of petrol  Some of that money was for thermal curtains because this house is dead draughty in wind. Lately my preps tend to be more cosying Fortress Mard :D

  • The waterBOB® is a water containment system that holds up to 100 gallons of fresh drinking water in any standard bathtub in the event of an emergency. Constructed of heavy duty food grade plastic, the waterBOB® keeps water fresh and clean for drinking, cooking, washing and flushing. Water stored in an open bathtub, with dirt, soap film and exposure to debris will spoil and become useless.
    See http://www.waterbob.com for more details.

They're available on the rainforest website, but rather more cheaply on the .com version than the .co.uk version.
