  • That's one of the BCB kits, isn't it BB?

    It is.
Tbh I don't see the point of carrying one of those with you at all times. <snip>

Due to the space that was left in it, when it arrived, I added a few extra items, one of which is the aforesaid Space Blanket.

    What's in it?

    All the regular kit, plus:-

    A metal signalling mirror.

A proper candle (in place of the tealight, which, due to its shape, was wasting a lot of space).

    Two strips of fabric plaster.

    A cigarette lighter.

    A space blanket.

Solar lamps are excellent for the elderly; my parents have two of the IKEA Sunnan lamps now that sit on the windowsill all day charging, then come over to their armchairs for the evening. No trailing wires, excellent task lighting that doesn't glare in their eyes.

A mammoth catch up successfully completed.

I'm very sorry to read of ChocClare's passing. So very sad :(

Having lived in a house all my life and with the prospect of communal flat living I've been experiencing some anxiety along the lines of what armyknife brought up. I am concerned about how others' negligence with candles, poorly maintained boilers, gas storage etc can very well effect my family's well being. I'm going from complete control to an environment where I have to trust those attached to my dwelling aren't doing anything silly. I'd be lying if I said I was able to cope with these feelings. It's proving very difficult indeed.

All my preps are packed. My whole prepping life will be stored away from 26th oct, not to be accessed again til late November. It's very unsettling and I feel exposed and alone in the big bad wide world. Extreme? Try living with anxiety fuelled by safety of loved ones and loss of home.

Prepping is my crutch and I suspect I won't feel relief until I'm unpacking those boxes at the end of next month.
