I just came across this documentary from a link on Peak Prosperity:

I think it might interest you guys.
Thanks for that, really enjoyed it. He kind of articulated a lot of what I already knew and made things clearer.
In some ways its a shame we don't live in Cuba as their solution to the loss of oil worked well-I remember watching a programme a few years ago about how Cuban agriculture were very much based around mixing up crops in the fields and the opposite of the agriculture we have here.
The more I think about the world we live in the more I can see that TPTB, the rich, the "elite" really cannot afford to let things slide as there whole world premise is based around the way things currently are.
The Titanic analogy hit home with me as I had a relation who died in the sinking-my grandfathers cousin who was a crew member.
I guess we are all here trying to build the lifeboats to get us through the coming storms.

RIP ChocClare.
When she posted recipes yonks ago, I asked her on the thread if she'd be happy for me to have her recipes in my recipe folder with her user-name on it, as is my habit when I get a recipe from a friend.
She kindly told me she'd be honoured. Sharing her recipes back with MSE in respect and rememberance:MSE ChocClare’s Sticky Chinese Chicken Recipe
Pkt chicken drumsticks
Now mix together one teaspoonful each of:
Salt
Pepper
Garlic & Ginger (I use the garlic and ginger in a jar from the Asian shop and just put in two tsps of that).
Paprika
Mix this into a paste and smear over the chicken pieces. As long as you've got a bit on all of them don't worry too much.
Put in the oven on 140C for one hour. There will be quite a lot of liquid. Drain it - you can keep it for something else but you don't need it for this.
While the chicken is cooking, mix together
1tblsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup soy sauce
2/3 cup brown sugar and
3 tblsp molasses (see below)
BUT I never have molasses, so I just use 1 cup of Billington's Molasses sugar instead. You could also use treacle I suppose. If you've only got brown sugar then I would just use one cup of that.
Stir this in a jug, then chuck all over the chicken so it's well coated. Increase the heat to 170C and put back in the oven. Baste your chicken occasionally. You're supposed to leave it in for another hour, but I find it doesn't take as long as that. You will have crispy, sticky chicken which you can pick up and eat with your fingers. Words can't describe how yummy this is. A definite summery dish, to serve with potato salad - hot or cold.
MSE ChocClare’s Chinese Chicken1 pkt chicken drumsticks
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp water
1 teasp mustard
Mix all of the above in a casserole dish.
Add chicken and swill around to coat.
Cook on Gas 5 for about 1 hour or until smells nice
Remove lid and cook for a further 20-30 mins.
Skin should be crispy brown and meat falling off the bone.
Serve with rice or mashed spuds. Also good cold as picnic food.
They're very very good.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Just been having a tidy of the cupboards, and find that (in addition to all my canned foods) I have 20 packets of Pasta and Sauce, 27 (just found another one
) packets of 5 minute simmer soup, and 55 packets of instant noodles.
I didn't realise I had bought so many. :eek:0 -
So sorry to hear about ChocClare. I PM'd her about something back in the summer and she was so brave and humorous despite her illness and making plans for preserving food.It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Found a tin of mince in the cupboard when I sorted it last week that went out of date at the end of April so I mixed it with 3oz cooked lentils a packet of basics sage and onion stuffing and a squirt of garlic paste, put it in a loaf tin and cooked for 30mins at 180c It was really tasty, served with peas, some home grown potatoes and a dollop of ketchupBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
