    E.g. prepper bra anyone?

I am thinking of buying a slightly bigger cup size, with removable padding, and re-doing the stuffing e.g. emergency bank notes, memory stick, sim card, bank cards, coins, wrapped so nothing jangles in an embarrassing way, don't think the mobile will fit in there, spare key(s), any more ideas welcome. Course, the only difficult bit is when you get to the till and have to retrieve stuff - cue a quick visit to the ladies! :o

the phone probably will fit in there but - avert your eyes anyone eating breakfast or of a sensitive nature - it might get a bit warm and also a bit moist depending on your stress levels. I nearly completely lost function on my smartphone after a particularly stressful shopping trip with my phone "stashed" in my bra for easy access because the new phones are so snesitive to heat and moisture. I stuck it in a bowl of uncooked rice and it recovered but what a waste of rice! :)

I am slowly getting back into the land of preps again - 7 months on from our house move - I cant believe it's taken so long :( our water supplies arent quite enough and I still dont have a reliable alternate indoor heat source but we've got a reasonable amount of food and other essentials now.

how are you all doing? are there any links you'd like me to add to the early posts? any budding C.R. members? :D

keep warm and dry - it's cold out there today!

    :) Morning all.

Well, they went ahead and gone and dunnit; be interesting to see how this pans out. Said on Radio 4 this morning that it could impact on us in the UK due to our trade with them.

I think anyone with half-an-eye on the US knows that it's long been hovering on the edge of bankruptcy and this doesn't have any feasible outcome that ends happy ever after..........

Ginnyknit, if you have a bit of wood with casters already on it, the job is 90% done. All mine have beyond that is a strip of wood glued or screwed around the edges, set a little back from the edge, to stop the cans slipping off if nudged. Mum used whatever was taking up space in the salvage pile at her's so it's a mixture of bits of edging strips and pine bedding planks she ran thru the circular saw to get 1 x 1 strips. They were pre-drilled and then screwed to the backing boards.

My trollies are a mixture of heavy duty ply and bits of block board, whatever was left in the shed. Nothing was bought apart from the casters (£land) and a large screw eye (pence off the market). The screw-eye is horizontal in the edge of the board as my bed fills the bedroom and is only accessible from one side so I have the furthermost trollies beyond reach, and grab them via the screw-eyes with a pole with a large cuphook on the end.

:o Those of us with silly-small homes have to make creative solutions to our problems. I'm going to be spring cleaning shortly (I do gardening in the real spring, natch) and will measure up the area behind the sofa to see if it can be re-purposed to hold more than bits of fluff.

Brekkie calls, then another day at my saltmine. Have a good 'un, lovely peeps.

Random bit of news this week; apparently Spam is considered a delicacy in South Korea..............I must try some soon.

Well the shutdown in the US has begun and the dollar is falling fast against other currencies.

I was amazed to find out this isn't that unusual a situation in the US, who runs a country like that lol.

The last time it happened was when Clinton was in the white house and lasted about 3 weeks and cost the economy billions.

What's even more worrying is the second deadline approaching on the 17th October, if the debt ceiling isn't raised the US will default and things could go sour pretty fast.

I suppose the big issue is how much the US economy effects the rest of the world's economies. In a way it may do the pound and the euro a favour as investers rush to drop dollars. Hmm we will see.

On a prepper note OH nipped to Morrisons for some milk and bread last night and spotted some packs of Ainsley flavoured spelt, dry packs reduced to 25p per pack. Make a change to rice and with flavour to make a tasty alternative. I know spelt isn't completely gluten free, but for some gluten sensitive people spelt is an alternative to wheat.

    Hello V

Nice to 'see' you; hope you are all settled in.

Ahem. Still working on the idea, haven't bought a larger bra size yet, although lots of ideas of what to put in it....:D

happy nearly October fellow preppers..... been quiet of late.... lurked a bit... ive got a very well stocked larder... but not added to it in a while...need to do a sportsbag tinny prepp shop with only quality stewed steak etc cheaper versions required lots of seasoning to make palatable...... good news only 2 payments left on a 10k loan over 84months that as probably cost me 18k in all ... never again i hate borrowing... but you learn the hardway
    Hello Daz

Well done that man. It takes a lot of hard work and discipline to sort your debts out. And a good lesson for your future to avoid loans if you possibly can...

Definitely agree, turn what would have been debt payments into savings one instead (or prep stuff, or both)...

  • Our local Co-Op has the pouches of Tilda ready cooked Rice and thier own brand pouches of cooked rice for £1 each at the moment. The Tilda ones come in many different flavours and plain the co-op ones have a couple of variations, worth having on the shelf of the Armageddon cupboard at that price, might be worth a look in if you have a Co-Op local to you, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Not me, it would be a health and safety risk. I'd be unbalanced and fall over with two feathers and a matchstick in it.
