Hello all
Thanks Nuatha, sounds like your day was perfect...
Pantries... mmmmm.
I dream about having one. Jars of glistening jams, jellies, chutney, pickles, cordials, syrups, ketchups, licquers (Sp?) and alcohol... I imagine it's like grabbing a bit of summer, the sight, smell, tastes, summer jewels, getting you through the winter... Sigh...
I've even looked at sites showing pictures of pantries (a bit like pantry !!!!!!).
Would love one, but, just isn't the room here. Bits of stash all over the hocky. Maybe more OPEC, but, not as nice to look at.
Oh well. Maybe I can persuade the OH to give his shed over to a pantry....

Loving this Snowden business. Whatever you make of what he did, imo it does illustrate the dangers of a one world government.
Meanwhile there are creative versions of The Scarlet Pimpernel poem popping up all over the show... :rotfl:0 -

She also decanted into a smaller container for use every day and I never knew anything go awry with them. It is a sensible idea to save on storage space, thank you very much for the idea.

I don't have a pantry, the house being the wrong age for such things. What I do have is a wall of Ikea Billy units with doors which gives a huge amount of storage for food and kitchen equipment and doesn't intrude too far into the dining space.
Though plans are afoot to remodel the kitchen in the not too distant future - didn't dare start it earlier as it could have ruined the wedding prepping.Yes and can I just say we would all like a piece!
At some point I'll get my notes together and post recipes etc in case they are of use to others.Loving this Snowden business. Whatever you make of what he did, imo it does illustrate the dangers of a one world government.

Ginnynit Boultdj just triggered half a memory - one that there should have been emergency lighting in the area at the very least, and that exit may well have been a fire exit and therefore should not have been locked without there being an accessible key (sometimes in a breakglass container) both are likely to be breeches of fire regulations at the very least.0 -
Nuatha, what lovely photos, may I add my voice to the others and wish both of you oodles of joy!
Anyone else listen to 'Shared Planet' on Radio 4 this morning, presented by Monty Don? It was about increasing population, decreasing resources, imminent extinction of various animal species, etc. Very, very interesting, if depressing. Good interview with Paul Ehrlich, very grim, balanced (cos it's the Beeb!) with one from an OU chap - Joe someone? Anyway, recommended listening; possibly a good basis for some further thoughts and interwebulating (credit GQ for a lovely word)....0 -
