Well the advice for a burn is to dunk it in cold water.
Picture it.............
He he! Sorry, isn't it supposed to be running water?
Couldn't resist....

Hello all (again)
I seem to be developing the verbal trots ...
I am hoping everyone's parts are sorted out now and feeling better.
On the prepster front, I am girding my loins for our camping trip and hoping that it's better than the last 3 times...
1. First trip, on the little sort of island off Welsh coast. We had 2 dogs and a small tent. Weather decided to blow a gale, and OH was out in the middle of the cold rainy night banging the tent pegs back in as tent threatened to take off. Dogs slept peacefully in the car, until at silly o'clock in the morning, neighbouring campers dog decided to scratch up the car trying to get them... Came back more tired than before we went.
2. Next time, booked a basic site, same tent, and when we finally got there to some back of beyond Devon area, only place available was on a slope. Top tip. Do not put your tent on a slope. We spent the whole night sliding about on our airbed trying not to put our feet through the tent and giggling. In the morning we found ourselves on the campers short cut route to the toilet & shower block. To add insult to injury, tried cooking on a single burner a chunky soup to warm us up. Only to have the contents blow over (on a slope remember) onto the grass, and endured disgusted looks from other campers who thought we had vomited next to our own tent. Needless to say that time we moved to a B&B instead.
3. Third time unlucky. Had a bigger tent, and decided the best place to test it was in the Scottish Highlands. Even though we picked summer, it was wetter than normal, and spent a week freezing our wotsit's off, as OH thought we wouldn't need a heater in summer. Lasted almost a week before we went home.
Let's just say that Ray Mears has nothing to fear from us... Here's hoping this time things go a little better; we are going as far south in the UK as possible, in July, with a blimmin heater, and crossed fingers. Oh, and a nervous, ex-rescue dog, who is not a good car traveller (as in get the sick bag out). What could possibly go wrong?
And even though the car is 14 years old and due it's MOT? And we are carrying more stuff? Eep. Now I am scaring myself....

BBB it's nice and warm down here in the deep south, if you're camping you should be OK, it's overcast but warm enough not to need a jumper, good luck, when do you go?0

I would just like to say - to all females present - beware of reaching over the hob to access the back burner when you have things bubbling on the front burners. Especially when you are not fully kitted with protective gear and other things.
Reaches for Acriflex......
pineapple have done that (except it was the steam from a pressure cooker).
Cold water, 10% bleach and it will massively reduce the blistering. You will need to keep it on place for 24 hours.

19 days. I am not counting, honest!
To add to the challenge, we are going to the Isle of Wight, I seem to have a thing for islands....
Here's hoping none of us get seasick!

BBB the ferries are great big things, you'll be fine, I'll let you know what the weather is doing as we can see the Island from the beach, if it gets cold I'll let you know before you leave so you can adjust up on what you're taking if that helps, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Without your mentioning it I'd not have googled it and found this , which I thought I'd share - a wonderful piece from a poster on another forum about his experiences with Picolax and the subsequent hospital procedure. It's brilliant. I'm wiping tears from my face, and I dearly hope I never have to experience it.

Probs not for those of a nervous disposition though.;)
MrsBartolozzi, you are very norty, but also absolutely marvellous! What a gem!! I'm still giggling hours after I read it. DH will completely understand as he had to take a similar concoction for an "exploration" - he was warned not to go to work, but he did, as he thought people were scaremongering. NOPE, there's a reason you need to be VERY close to vacant facilities, and that's all I'm saying!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
My SHTF preps are just pants at the minute, DS is going on holiday this week, so will have over a week when I can get on top of it. We've been munching our way through the freezer and pantry for financial reasons, but now I can rotate what's left and start re-stocking before the autumn. I have frozen brambles and sloe berries that I'm going to add to booze - if the winter's rubbish, at least I'll some consolation that's not cost a lot!
Am scouring CS for fabric (AKA old bedding) to re-use as door curtains or sausage dogs innards, depending on the design/quality.
I also need to see what we've got in terms of water and non-grocery items - tend to be stored in random places, which isn't ideal, but had to make do at the time. Methinks a BIG tidy is in order before I buy owt else!
A xo
Poor pineapple, didn't giggle much, honest, but fleeting visions of Robin Williams as Mrs Doubtfire flashed into my head.Do hope you're recovered soon, though, I crossed my arms in sympathy.

oh, a bit bleach on the auld tassle swingers (avert your eyes at that image Lyn) I don't know what is worse, that or the thought of blisters on 'em! Hope you're alright Pineapple.
Stocks are a bit funny here as we're trying to go all primal in our eating... basically meat, fish, veg/fruit, eggs etc Still reading up on it but it's going to be havoc for my stocks because it's not rice pasta etc. Going to get my head in my crofting books to see how they preserved without fridges/freezers etc... just so I know should SHTF.
Speaking of which. We lost power today. The whole estate. My LL's builders hit a cable while building the other houses. I wasn't worried(although cold beans aren't primal... see what I mean?) Back on now but the thunder and lightening yesterday had me implementing the 'shut down' plan re: router (i've lost 4 routers in lighting strikes over the years)
I have been reading about how very harsh winters follow the spring that we had this year, historically. I feel ready mentally but know practically I have to replace a few items from last year.0 -
Pineapple Sorry to hear of your cooking misadventure. If you have any lavender essential oil use that. It seems to stop the blisters and eases discomfort.

Hi Fuddle, I can empathise as me and my hubby have gone back to the primal way of eating. Really annoying as I have over 10kg of rice and numerous tins of kidney beans. Oh well. Not sure if the foodbank would wish to have 5kg bags of rice??
It's worth it though, as both mine and hubby's health greatly improved by eating primal.
Have you eaten primal before? Or are you new to it?
