Hugs to everyone today. i have read the thread but there are too many to mention (and from yesterday) so just lots of (((((((((hugs)))))))))) to all who need them.
Quiet day today. Did a batch cook of lamb curry, steak and kidney, spag bol and mushroom soup yesterday so no cooking today :j
Which leave me all day to devote myself to the ironing.

Hello all!
First, congrats to scuzz and Paulie'sGirl!! Glad things seem to be looking up for both of you:TCan't keep my fingers crossed, need them for other things, will the eyes do?:rotfl:
((((((hugs)))))) to those in need, especially CCstar. As Snowy said, I've no words of wisdom, but nothing lasts forever ( it just feels like it at the time)
Hope change happens soon.
catznine how horrible for your BIL. Do these obnoxious people never consider what the deceased would want? Surely part of the "paying respects" is to behave in a considerate and caring manner to the other mourners
Got lots of little bits to do today, the sort that won't seem to amount to much but will eat up time like there's no tomorrow!! Got shopping to do that involves going to two different shopping centres for one thing at each:mad:
Then Dad's had more trouble with the tax people. Actually he hasn't, he's misread what they sent and gone into panic mode again. This one's already sorted, it just might take some time before I convince him!! My telephone bill is NEVER going to get smaller. Still by getting him to give me authority to talk to the tax people, I've avoided an expensive 200 mile dash:D
It's lovely and sunny here, so at least the washing can go outside, saves the cost of the TD;) Might need gloves on to peg it out though, it's also freezing!
I'm out tonight for a girls night out (just a meal, nothing too adventurous) so must prepare dinner for the rest. Something that will keep ok for them to help themselves. SC beckons, methinks;)
Well best make tracks,
CMxxYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Well hello everybody and hugs all 'round - let's face it it's going to be the only free thing everyone gets today courtesy of "Gordie" as he is known in this house. Call me psychic but I predict alcohol/ciggies/car tax for big cars giong up. Maybe mortgage relief and generally lots of talk about "prudence" and "fiscal responsibiity" - I find it more scary when he tries to make jokes though  Right budget broadcast over!!!
It's very cold here today - the bird baths were frozen over. No wonder Mr Blackbird looked like he was about to vandalise something!! Still baking last night was done - even put a tray of sausage rolls in there as there was room - so we don't have to go out for anything. DH is going to get my sick note from the GPs tonight as well. He's full of a cold so I'm making savoury mince tonight with yorkshires and extra veg.
Today I am in quite a good mood as whilst waiting for the district nurse to arrive i have written a very snotty letter to my council re council tax. We have a house which we let out as we were lucky enough to be able to afford to keep it and regard it as our pension plan. Well, we had it refurbed and were told we had to pay the council charge during the refurb, then it turns out we don't so they refund it all. Now they've sent me a letter saying we owe them £230!! Luckily some of us have kept the joint account statements from 2004/05 and so have been able to highlight all the payments made  . I have also pointed out that their staff were so useless it took loads of phone calls to sort this out and that if their staff don't understand the exemption policy they should be re-trained. As it is I've checked by ringing up their helpline and the period they want paying for it was empty and so I do qualify for exemption. As I finished my letter "lack of ability on the part of your staf to carry out their job hardly justifies a demand for over £200 out of the blue". I've addressed it to their head of finance and will send it on his direct e-mail so I await a response. I love writing letters of complaint. When we went to see Rich Hall recently he was going on about how when the English get mad we storm off saying we're going to write a letter - in the USA they just shoot people. DH laughed and pointed at me. Well, make your voice heard!! Right, today must be e-bay day!!!:DBut I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Good morning.
No w*** today! :j
The weather up here is gorgeous, cold but gorgeous, I've just got back from walking the girls to school and it's amazing how the sunny weather can lift your mood.
My plans for the day include:
staying away from the computer and biscuit tin :rotfl:
de-cluttering my tatty kitchen (would love another one but would rather spend the money on other things)
ironing
hoovering, mopping and dusting
sorting out my finances
making a shepherds pie for tea
Then after all that I've got another meeting at church tonight. No rest for the wicked as they say! :rotfl:
Have a great day.0 -
Morning everybody :hello:
Morning specially to jw1096 - good to see you back! Like catowen said, there are a few others missing in action as well who I wish would reappear. The one I am most concerned about is Curry Queen who hasn't been seen in these parts for over a year now - and she always did have a lot of "stuff" going on in her life...
And welcome to Lambanana :hello:
scuzz - congratulations on the flat! Hope it all goes smoothly and you're able to move in soon... unlike the 4 months it took me!
Paulie'sGirl - that's FAB news :j :j
HariboJunkie - I know what you mean about the ironing! It is my least favourite chore. I'd rather clean a thousand toilets than do a load of ironing!
HUGE HUGS to CCStar, sahmx5, tinkerbelluk, catznine and anybody I have inadvertently ignored.
Well it's a beautiful day here. Still cold but lovely and fine. You wouldn't know it had been so vile yesterday afternoon! I hope it stays this way, as my New Year's Resolution to walk to work in the mornings is being "encouraged" by the fact that the buses are currently really bad during the morning peak - "my" bus (the one which goes past my door) is horrid in the mornings as it's always packed solid with rude people(!) and the many other buses which go from 10 minutes up the road are being badly affected by road works which are due to last until mid-June  so walking is by far the most civilised option!
Had my new council tax bill through yesterday - a 4.3% increase which isn't too horrendous in comparison with some. It's only a couple of pounds a month on my single occupancy Band B home - and it will be more than covered by the £4 or £5 extra I'll get in my monthly wages as a result of the annual adjustment to the income tax thresholds. Also dealt with a bill addressed to the building that was knocked down and replaced by the block I live in :rotfl: - wrote an explanation to this effect on the back of the envelope, and returned to sender...
Must be off, I've had an email from a consultant I'm working with to say that the data I've been waiting for is READY, which means I can write loads of reports I haven't been able to do so far! Boss is in a meeting so I should make the most of not being interrupted...
Penny-Pincher!! - hope you're not too bad this morning and that DD is feeling a bit better.
See you later

Hello every-one , I hope you are all well.Well today its sunny and dry, if not a tad chilly here in berkshire. There seems to be alot of people who could do with a hug, so big hugs to them.Today DD is due home fromm uni , so i need to make up her bed.I also need to declutter our downstairs cupboard, hoover and tidy up the living room.Roast chicken, potato`s,yorkshire puddings, veg and gravy for dinner as i know Dd eats loads of pasta etc at uni.Not alot else going on at the mo but that suits me fine, i prefer boring to stress. Take care all and have a good day. Love Elaine“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Your really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Lucille Ball.0
