Just to be clear I made a new parking space in front of a car behind me who had done the same - I didn't increase the length of the parking line by two but made it the same length as the row behind. There wouldn't have been any inconvenience casued to anyone else using the car park. This was to allow me to get my grand-daughter out of her car seat.

I wonder why the row was made two cars shorter than the one behind when the car park was laid out? Could not possibly be anything to do with assisting traffic flow around the car park could it?

You may have guessed that although I realise the charge cannot be enforced I would really prefer people to park properly and think about other users rather than themselves and their own personal needs alone. Even worse when they try to justify their action by professing to be an expert in car park layout and traffic flow.

LOL - the row behind had been made longer by someone else who was parked 'outside the marked bay'. The row behind that was also illegally lengthened. Clearly that was a very busy day as no-one seemed to be able to get spaces in the marked bays. This was up at the Boots end of the car park which in my experience is usually less busy than down near TK Maxx, etc. I don't believe that I have ever tried to justify my actions or professed to be a car park expert. I'm just an average grandmother who was unable to get a parking space on a Sunday afternoon and got a slap on the wrist from the car parking gestapo :rotfl:

How can you be sure? After all the experts decided not to mark out spaces where you parked, probably for a very good reason.

Just accept that you were in the wrong and you won't do it again. Or if you do park in a selfish way that inconveniences others again in the future then don't complain about the consequences.

tracey - I apologise. The whole time I was thinking of the Shane retail park (Homebase, Dunelm Mill etc). Boucher Retail Park (Boots, Next etc) really is a nightmare. People do just stop anywhere there. I avoid it on Sundays if possible!

It's only a nightmare because there is a shortage of spaces and then people park anywhere and everywhere.

If there are no spaces you shouldn't park there. Either park further away (in another car park if need be) and walk or else come back another time when it's not so busy.

I think we all know the general attitude to parking here in NI Walt, obeying the rules and having consideration for others are both hard to stomach for the average NI Driver, pavement, double yellow line, empty bit of space, all fair game. Myself, I would abolish all parking tickets or parking charges and introduce mandatory 21 day driving bans with no leave to appeal whatever the circumstances.
